Vietnam Land trades and cross-border Vietnam is very well connected with China by land, by sea, and by rivers. It serves as an important import and export cross-border trade region for South and South West China, Cambodia, and Laos. 9 border crossings with Guangxi in North East 3 border crossings with Yunnan in the North and North West There are Economic Zones established along the border with China. The most famous are Mong Cai, Tân Thanh / Đồng Đăng, and Lao Cai. China has built up corresponding zones for trades and as hubs. Each person has daily tax-free allowance of CNY8,000 bring goods into China. Thanh Thủy / Tianbao (454Km to Kumming) There are a number of Economic Zones established along the border with China. The most famous are Mong Cai, Tân Thanh / Đồng Đăng, and Lao Cai. China at the same time has build up corresponding zones for trades and as hubs. Everyday, over tens of thousand tons of goods are import & export between the border crossings. With daily allowance of CNY8,000 tax-free goods to bring into China, goods of various kinds from dry goods e.g. Nuts, Household Goods, to Fresh Fruits like Dragon Fruit, Water Melon, Frozen Foods like Beef and Chicken feet, Rubber Products, Wood Products are bringing into China almost 365 days in a year. Between Mong Cai and Dong Xing, the cross border trade value is over CNY20.8Bn in 2014, over 21% more than 2013. Road transport volume has reached over 206.8 thousand tons. The 4 bonded zones in Mong Cai are particularly popular for traders. Cargoes in bonded containers are unloaded into the zones for re-distributions into China. Dong Xing has become one of the biggest and is known to be the most convenient trading platforms between ASEAN and China via Guangxi Province. Tân Thanh and Đồng Đăng are the main fruit and Mahogany trading zones. In 2014, the trade value is closed to CNY30Bn, an increase of over 10% than 2013. Everyday, over 300 trucks carrying over thousands of tons of Agricultural Products, Electrical Goods, Machinery and Equipment, and Textile and Garments export to Vietnam or via Vietnam to overseas; and Fresh Fruits, Mahogany, Rubber, Rice, and Wood Products imported into China. With annual tonnage of fruit over 1 million, Đồng Đăng / Pingxiang import/export fruit trade is the biggest by volume in China, in Vietnam and in ASEAN. In addition, Trà Lĩnh/Longbang and Tà Lùng / Shuikou are the biggest zones in China for the import and export of nuts volume while Chi Ma / Aidian is the biggest distribution centre of Chinese herbs. Lào Cai / Hekou border crossing is the busiest in Yunnan Province and the export value from Hekou amounts 1/7 th of the whole province. In 2014, there are over 1.84 million tons of goods exchanged and the value is over CNY5.57Bn. In the 1 st quarter of 2015, there are over 0.45 million tons of goods (+23.6% over 2014) and CNY1.217Bn value of goods are traded (+37.8% over 2014). The major imported commodities are Agricultural and Farm Products, Aquaculture Products, Handicrafts, Mineral Goods, and Wood. Chemical Goods, Electrical Goods and Equipment, and Minerals. Also, the many border crossings with Laos and Cambodia serve as important land-bridges for the import & export trades with Vietnam and overseas. 6 border crossings with Laos 1. *(425Km to Danang) Cầu Treo / Nam Phao (368Km to Vientiane) 2. *(Tay Trang / Sop Hun (477Km to Hanoi) 3. *Lao Bảo / Dansavanh (309Km to Danang Port) 4. (497Km to Haiphong) Nậm Cắn / Nam Khan (519Km to Vientiane) 6. *Ngọc Hồi / Bo Y (243Km to Danang Port) Cầu Treo / Nam Phao is the most popular border crossing for domestic trades between the land-locked country Laos and the provinces in the middle of Vietnam. Tay Trang / Sop Hun and Lao Bảo / Dansavanh borders also serve the same purpose with daily commuting of countless varieties of domestic trade cargoes including Household Goods, Machinery and Equipment. Ngọc Hồi / Bo Y border is closest to the 3 rd port of Vietnam, Da Nang. Cargo to/from overseas will do in-transit to enter/leave Laos, especially for the Agricultural and Farm Products, Coffee, Garments, Timber, and Wood Products from Laos for overseas.
