The preliminary and final plans, for the extension of the building have been studied and approved. Special studies are under way in ;connexion with the airconditioning system, lifts and other technical details. 3. 工 t is expected that invitations to bid on the construction will be invited before the end of the year and that actual construction; work will start early in 1965. Its completion is expected to ta.ke approximately two years. 4. Pending completion of the office extension, in order to meet an urgent need for additional office space^ a portion of the ground floor level of the existing office building which was originally an open terrace^ has been provisionally enclosed, providing the equivalent of eight offices. 5. Listed below are all voluntary contributions so far received towards the cost of the Regional Office extension, in response to the appeal of the Director-General: Contributions receiveds Cameroon $ 4 082 Chad 4 082 Congo (Brazzaville) 171 429 Congo (Democratic Republic of) Dahomey Gabon Guinea 7 813 4 081 4 082 2 015 1 Off. In addition to the above, the following amounts have been credited to the Building Fund by appropriations of the World Health Assembly or by advances from the Working Capital Fund: 1963 - Resolution v 4 1964 - Resolutions WHA15.W and WHA16.28 1964 - Advance from the Working Capital Fund resolution WHA16.9 5 p $ 100 000 200 000 100 000 $ 400 000 The total credits thus amount to $ 726 955. 7. On the basis of further tentative estimates made by the architect, it is now certain that these credits will be inadequate to cover the total cost of construction. It is not possible, however, to determine the additional credits required until bids have been received. Should this information become available in time for the thirtyfifth session, an addendum to this document will be issued. In case the additional information should not be available by that time, the Board may consider referring this matter to the Ad Hoc Committee of the Executive Board which presumably will meet as usual prior to the Eighteenth World Health Assembly.
