WATTSBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION The meeting of the Board Work Session was convened on October 14, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Erie County Vocational Technical School. The following members were in attendance: Mr. Eric Duda, Mr. Kerry Duncan, Mr. Bruce McCall, Mrs. Nancy McNally, Mr. John Rzepka, Mr. Aaron Snippert, Mr. Ed Snippert, and Mr. Joseph Walko. The following members were absent: Mr. Ken Watkins. Also in attendance were Mr. Ken Berlin, Superintendent; Mr. Thomas Rinke, Assistant Superintendent; and Michelle Knuth, Business Administrator. In a voice vote all members present voted Yes to approve agenda and addendum as presented. Motion carried. Ms. Knuth reviewed with the Board the Treasurer s Report for September and the list of General Fund bills. These items to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. Motion by Mr. Rzepka, seconded by Mr. E. Snippert to suspend rules per Policy 006 to allow voting on action items identified on the agenda. In a recorded roll call vote, the following members voted Yes : Mr. Rzepka, Mr. A. Snippert, Mr. E. Snippert, Mr. McCall, Mrs. McNally, and Mr. Walko. The following members voted No : Mr. Duncan, Mr. Duda. Motion carried. The Board discussed egrant Resolution revision to authorize Mr. Berlin to be the authorized signature for contracts. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. The Board discussed the proposed WASD Organizational Chart. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. Motion by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Mr. Rzepka to revise the agenda facility utilization items and to make the October 16 th 17 th item an action item. Motion carried. The Board discussed the use of SHS Auditorium on Sunday, March 2, 2014 for a 2:00 PM matinee presentation of the musical production Seussical: The Musical. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. Motion by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Mr. Rzepka to approve use of SHS JROTC Classroom for Hunters Safety Course on October 16 th and 17 th from 2:45 5:45 PM. No cost to the district. In a recorded roll call vote, the following members voted Yes : Mr. Duncan, Mr. McCall, Mrs. McNally, Mr. Rzepka, Mr. A Snippert, Mr. E. Snippert, Mr. Duda, and Mr. Walko. Motion carried. The Board discussed the approval of additions to the Emergency Substitute List and the Teacher s Substitute List for the 2013-2014 school year. These items to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. Joseph Brozewicz as Master Certified Maintenance, Class A at the rate of $18.71. Ronald Rairie as WAMS/SHS piano tuner/repair technician for the 2013-2014 school year at a cost not to exceed $800. Mark Alloway as choir accompanist for the 2013-2014 school year at a rate of $1,500. These items to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. The Board discussed the job descriptions for Client Technology Specialist, Systems Administrator, Data Base Specialist and SIS Specialist. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. The Board discussed the conference request for Emily Ewings and Julie Sierota to attend the Erie Reading Council on Saturday, October 26, 2013 in Erie, PA at a cost of $18.00. Funding through Title I. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. The board discussed the resignation for the purpose of retirement of Sharon Szymanski, WAMS teacher effective June 6, 2014. This item to be placed on the agenda for October 21, 2013. The Board discussed the request Childbirth Leave for Julie Myers according to the WEA Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, effective January 13, 2014 through March 3, 2014 and an Intermittent Family Medical Leave for Carol Cook according to the Local 2 Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement, effective October 15, 2013.
