Under Rule XXVII of the General Rules of the Organization (GRO), the Finance Committee consists of a Chairperson and 12 Members (two Members from each of the following regions: Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean and Near East, and one Member from North America and from Southwest Pacific). Each Member Nation seeking election to the Committee should communicate the name of the representative they would appoint if elected, and details of his or her qualifications and experience, to the Secretary-General of the Conference and Council (Rule XXVII.2 of the GRO). 2. The procedure for the election of Members of the Committee provides for Member Nations of the Organization to stand for election for a specific region as determined by the Conference for the purpose of Council elections, and that the Council first elect a Chairperson from among the nominated representatives of Member Nations. The Chairperson shall be elected on the basis of individual qualifications and shall not represent a region or a country. 3. The nominations received are listed below and the information on the qualifications and experience of the candidates for (i) the office of Chairperson is given in Appendix A and for (ii) Membership of the Committee is given in Appendix B. CL 157/LIM/2 3 BANGLADESH APPENDIX A Mr MAFIZUR RAHMAN August 2012 - present Dr Rahman is working as Economic Counsellor of Bangladesh Embassy to cover the multilateral affairs for the three Rome-based Agencies. Currently, he is a CFS Bureau member and Chairing CFS MYPoW. He was Programme Committee member in 2013 and Alternate member of IFAD for the same year. Moreover, he is now a member of the FAO-WFP Staff Pension Committee and member of the WFP Executive Board. February 1988 - July 2012 Dr Rahman is working as a public servant for more than 28 years in Bangladesh Government. He was the chief executive of a big administrative unit of the country. He was posted as Hajj Counsellor of Bangladesh in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for three years.

8 CL 157/LIM/2 BRAZIL Mr ANTONIO OTÁVIO SÁ RICARTE 2015 - present Deputy Permanent Representative of Brazil to FAO, IFAD and WFP Minister Council Mr Antonio Ricarte holds a BA in International Relations from the University of Brasilia and a Masters in Diplomacy from the diplomatic academy of Brazil, Instituto Rio Branco. He is a career diplomat since 1986, having been posted in the Permanent Missions of Brazil in Geneva (United Nations, Environment and Human Rights), Montevideo (Mercosur), Paris (UNESCO) and Nairobi (UN-Habitat and UNEP). He was a member of the Brazilian delegation to the Preparatory Committee for UNCED and attended the Rio Summit (1992) and Rio+20 (2012). He also negotiated the Convention on Biological Diversity, the Rio Declaration and the Forest Principles. Mr Ricarte was a member and served as rapporteur of the World Heritage Committee, the Intergovernmental Committee on Intangible Heritage and the Intergovernmental Committee on Cultural Diversity. Since 2015, he is Deputy Permanent Representative of Brazil to FAO, WFP and IFAD.
