The Lake Township Trustees held a regular meeting Tuesday, January 19, 2016. Trustee Pettit called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was recited. Trustee Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 12-16 Whereas, the 2002 International dump truck used by the Lake Township Road Department was in need of emergency repairs due to broken left and right rear springs, so
Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize the sum of $2,045.23 for emergency repairs to Toledo Spring Service, 5015 Enterprise Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43612 for said emergency repairs. Trustee Gilsdorf moved to adopt Resolution # 13-16 Whereas, the 2002 International dump truck used by the Lake Township Road Department was in need of emergency repairs due to a broken front spring, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize that a sum not to exceed $1,400.00 for emergency repairs to Toledo Spring Service, 5015 Enterprise Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43612 for said emergency repairs. Trustee Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 14-16 Whereas, the 2002 International dump truck used by the Lake Township Road Department was in need of emergency repairs due to broken snow plow mounts, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize the sum of $1,000.00 for emergency repairs to Welding on the Spot LTD., 5950 N. Detroit, Toledo, Ohio 43612 for said emergency repairs. Trustee Gilsdorf moved to adopt Resolution # 15-16 Whereas, the 1994 Dump Truck used by the Lake Township Road Department was involved in an accident which damaged the rear spinner assembly and airline hose and required emergency repairs, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize the sum of $924.00 to Tom Newell Sales, 341 Hilltop Drive, Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43551 for repairs to the 1994 Lake Township Dump Truck.
Trustee Welling Moved to adopt Resolution #16-16 Whereas, Lake Township is required to submit a storm water management plan in accordance with 40 CFR part 122.32 and the Ohio revised Code and to develop, implement, and enforce a storm water management program designed to reduce the discharge of pollutants and to protect water quality, and Whereas, Lake Township has eight point seventy seven (8.77) square miles of urbanized areas which qualify under the storm management program, and Whereas, Lake Township has a cost sharing agreement with the Wood County Engineer's Office covering labor, travel, equipment, and other costs associated with managing Wood County's Storm Water Management Programs, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees reimburse the Wood County Engineer's Office the sum of $6,673.69 for labor, travel, and equipment costs incurred by the Wood County's Storm Water Management Program agreement with the Wood County Commissioners. Roll call: Gilsdorf-yes, Welling-yes, Petit-absent Fire department Issues: Trustee Gilsdorf moved to adopt Resolution # 17-16 Whereas, Lake Township Medic 28 used by the Lake Township Fire Department required emergency repairs to its brake system and replacement of the EGR valve due to a lack of proper power performance, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees authorize the sum of $1,459.52 to Baumann Auto Group Genoa, LLC, 22110 W. State Route 51, Genoa, Ohio 43430 for services provided to Medic 28. Discussion Only: Community Care-A-Van: Trustee Welling confirmed that service is available and in use on a limited basis by Township residents. Township to make a donation in the future.
Heard from Road Supervisor, Dan McLargin about the need for repairs to the 6640 Boom Mower Tractor which needs a clutch; approximate cost-$5,000. Trustee Welling advised to proceed with repair. Trustee Gilsdorf received an email from an organization requesting to hold a craft show to raise money for a food distribution project at Friendship Park. Follow up with Park's Director Ron Hanley for more info. Trustee Welling moved to go into Executive Session to discuss personnel issues (Police contract, Fire compensation) and contract negotiations (Village of Millbury) as per O.R.C. 122.22 at 6:10 p.m. Roll call: Gilsdorf-yes, Welling-yes, Pettit-absent Trustee Welling moved to come out of Executive Session and noting no decisions were made at 6:40 p.m. Trustee Welling moved to adopt Resolution # 18-16 Whereas, Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer has negotiated a contract with the Command Officers (Command), and Whereas, the contract proposal is for a three (3) year period of time effective January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018 at a yearly pay increase of 2.5% with employee health care contribution of 15% of the monthly premium, and a $.50 hourly increase for the first year of the contract, and Whereas, Chief Hummer recommends that the Lake Township Trustees approve said contract terms and provisions, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees approve the negotiated contract with the Lake Township Command Officers, for a three (3) year period of time effective January 1, 2016 to December 31, 2018 at a yearly pay increase of 2.5% and hourly increase for the first year of $.50 with employee health care contribution of 15% of the monthly premium.
Trustee Gilsdorf moved to adopt Resolution # 19-16 Whereas, Deputy Fire Chief Mike Hornyak has not had a pay increase for two (2) year period of time, and, Whereas, Lake Township Fire Chief Bruce Mortiz recommends said pay increase, so Therefore, be it resolved, that the Lake Township Trustees increase the hourly wage for Deputy Fire Chief Mike Hornyak from $16.40 to $18.00 per hour effective January 25, 2016.
