The Township Committee of the Township of Greenwich held a regular meeting on the above date with the following Township Committee members present: Mayor Dan Perez, Deputy Mayor Angelo Faillace, Committeeman Joseph Tauriello, Committeewoman Segal, and Committeeman Callari, Township Engineer Michael Finelli, Township Attorney Brent Carney, and Township Clerk Kimberly Viscomi. The Flag Salute was repeated Sunshine Law "Adequate notice of this meeting was given in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act by: Mailing a schedule of this meeting of the Township Committee to the Express-Times, and Newark Star Ledger newspapers, posting a copy thereof on the Township Bulletin Board, and filing a copy thereof with the Township Clerk". Public Comment This initial public comment period is reserved for public comment on agenda items only. Each member of the public shall be limited to 3 minutes to ensure completion of agenda items in a timely fashion Committeeman Tauriello made a motion, seconded by Committeewoman Segal to open public comment Tracy Herdlein of 431 Daniel Drive Spoke with the Committee regarding the new timing system utilized in Phillipsburg for the Swim Team. She stated that all towns have given donations towards this expense and that she has been since February attempting to receive the money from Greenwich in the amount of $2,500. She informed that the system needs to be paid for by the end of December. Committeeman Callari informed that he attended Recreation meeting and was just made informed of this situation and immediately referred this to the Township Attorney. He has questions as to how to have non-profit give donations to another non-profit. Attorney Carney informed that he is going to need more time to make a determination if it is ok for the Recreation Commission to pay to the swim team the $2,500. As there was no further public comment, Committeeman Tauriello made a motion, seconded by Committeewoman Segal to close public comment. Committeeman Tauriello made a motion, seconded by Committeeman Callari authorizing Attorney Carney to do research and to make a determination if it is allowed to make donation. Upon determination to inform CFO if payment in the amount of $2,500 can be funded and it so authorizing the CFO to pay this amount. 1
Mayor Perez presented Eagle Scout Certificates to James Maris, Andrew Knoble, and Benjamin McCormick. Ordinance 2013-08 AN ORDINANCE TO RENAME WASHINGTON STREET AS WASHINGTON STREET/KOBLER WAY Committeeman Tauriello made a motion, seconded by Committeewoman Segal to open public hearing on Ordinance 2013-08 Mayor Perez, Deputy Mayor Faillace, Committeeman Tauriello, Committeeman Callari, Committeewoman Segal and Township Engineer Finelli all gave praises to Gordon and thanked him for all his year of service to the Township as Tax Collector. Gordon Kobler thanked the Township Committee and all those involved and stated that this was the icing on the cake of all the praises he has received. He thanked his family and his friends. Executive Session December 19, 2013 EXECUTIVE SESSION RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Section 8 of the Open Public Meetings Act, Chapter 231, P.L. 1975, permits the exclusion of the public from a meeting in certain circumstances; and exist. WHEREAS, this public body is of the opinion that such circumstances presently NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Township Committee of the Township of Greenwich, County of Warren and State of New Jersey as follows: 1. The public shall be excluded from discussion of and action upon the hereinafter-specified subject matter. 2. The general nature of the subject matter to be discussed as follows: Pending Litigation Medarex v. Greenwich Township 3. It is anticipated at this time that the above stated subject matter will be made public at: When a decision has been rendered. 4. This Resolution shall take effect immediately. Township Attorney Resolution 2013-88 Social Media Policy The Township Committee discussed this resolution and decided that there were additional areas that need to be addressed. They also discussed the Face book page for the Police Department that does not adhere to how the social media policy needs to be implemented. Committeeman Callari made a motion, seconded by Committeeman Tauriello to close down the Police department Face book page effective immediately, until all areas are addressed regarding this site and the social media policy that will be in place in the near future.
