Business Law Course Syllabus 2015-2016 COURSE DESCRIPTION Business and Personal Law is a business course that provides an overview of the legal system. Topics covered include: Basics of the Law, Contract Law, Employment Law, Personal Law, and Property Law. Both criminal and civil trial procedures are presented. Instructional strategies should include mock trials, case studies, professional mentoring, job shadowing, field trips, guest speakers, and Internet projects. COURSE OBJECTIVES Upon the successful completion of this course, the student will have a basic understanding of laws pertaining to societal matters regarding: Differentiating the Civil circumstances and Criminal circumstances in regards to law and the court process. Explore how the laws and the court operate in respect to juveniles, taxes, criminals, civil processes Analyzing the Corporate structure and laws pertaining to incorporation Investigating the types of Court systems (City/County, State, Federal) Explore Employment contracts and connect them to the educational process Classify and Categorize types of Contracts.
