From: Jim Williams, Public Policy Polling To: Interested Parties Subject: Health Care Top Priority Issue for Tennessee Voters Date: March 21, 2018 On the 8 th anniversary of passage of the Affordable Care Act, a new Public Policy Polling survey finds that health care is a top priority for Tennessee voters when deciding who to vote for in the upcoming election. Health care is ranked as a top for 71% of voters (31% saying it is the most important and another 40% saying it is very important). Only 6% say it is not that important or not important at all. Tennessee voters disapprove of the Republican efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act by 10 points (47% to 37%). Among independent voters, only 35% support the GOP s health care repeal efforts to 41% who oppose them. Only 42% of voters think the best path forward on health care is to repeal the Affordable Care Act, to 49% who think it should be kept in place with fixes made to it as necessary. Key findings from the survey include: - In a hypothetical US Senate election matchup, voters prefer Democrat Phil Bredesen over Republican Marsha Blackburn 46-41. Among voters who say that health care is the most important, Bredesen s lead grows to 56-26 over Blackburn. PPP surveyed 1,014 Tennessee voters from. The margin of error is +/- 3.1%.
