Mary Hammack, Regional Awards Chair Home: (303) 772-6789 or E-MAIL: mhammack@q.com January 6, 2017 MEMORANDUM FOR: REGIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS FROM: MARY HAMMACK, Rocky Mountain Regional Awards Chair SUBJECT: Call for Regional Award Nominations DUE: FEBRUARY 10, 2017 Last year there were several criteria revisions made within our Regional Awards Program. The Awards Program consists of the nine (9) awards, eight of which are for FEW members only. The Unsung S/Hero in Federal Service Award is one of a kind that includes all active and retired federal employees within the Rocky Mountain Region. Each award category and its criteria follow the FEW National Awards programs (National) and the timeframes are identical as well. The Regional Awards Nominations coverage dates begin January 31, 2016, through January 1, 2017. The coverage dates were changed because, as of January 1, 2016, National s revised criterion for the Best Chapter Newsletter Award specifically requires a copy of the approved E-mail from the National s Publications, Policy and Review Committee (PPRC). The E-mail should indicate the newsletters have been approved for release with edits corrected and must be attached to the submission for the Chapter Newsletter Award, especially if the newsletters are being forwarded to National for an Award. All newsletter packets submitted without the PPRC E-mail will ONLY be considered for the Regional Award eligibility. Also, the Overall Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award criterion was revised to more accurately describe the required information. The awards criteria and nomination forms for each of the following awards are attached. 1. Best Chapter Newsletter Award 2. Best Chapter Programs Award 3. Best Chapter Fundraising Program Award 4. Membership Award 5. Best Chapter Legislative Program Award 6. Overall Outstanding Chapter Achievement Award 7. Outstanding Individual Member Achievement Award 8. Unsung S/Hero Award (Federal Service Award) 9. Rocky Mountain Regional Lifetime Achievement Award Please give this your priority attention. The due date for the nomination forms has a 30-day turnaround. This will give the committee adequate time to review each submitted nomination. Please prepare the nomination(s) and submit completed nomination packages (signed forms, attachments, etc.) via electronic mail by the deadline date of February 10, 2017. All committee members listed below must receive the nominations packages by 5:00 p.m. MST, February 10, 2017. The Award Winners will be announced at the March 24, 2017, Spring RTP. 2017 Regional Awards Program ROCKY MOUNTAIN REGION [Type text] [Type text] [Type text] 3

BACKGROUND INFORMATION The Rocky Mountain Regional Awards Program was developed years ago to recognize the outstanding efforts of Chapters and members in the Region. We believe that there is a lot of talented work and effort taking place throughout the Region and this awards program attempts to recognize those efforts. The categories and criteria were developed to mirror the National Awards Program, making the collection of data and information similar for both programs. Competition on the National level is very competitive. Chapters compete against over 100 other Chapters for National recognition. On the Regional level, the number of Chapters competing is much smaller, which affords all of the Chapters in the Region a chance to be recognized for their efforts. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. Chapters submitting awards nominations must be in good standing, per the National Policies and Procedures Manual (NPPM). 2. Chapters submitting awards nominations must have submitted timely quarterly reports as outlined in the NPPM. BASIC CRITERIA ELIGIBILITY: The submitted award nominee (Chapter or Individual) must be in good standing per the NPPM. All Rocky Mountain Regional Chapters and members meeting this eligibility requirement and the minimum qualification requirements are eligible to win awards. DUE DATE: Complete nomination packages must be received by all members of the Regional Awards Committee no later than February 10, 2017, and will cover the period January 31, 2016, through January 1, 2017. The only exception to the period of coverage is the Membership Award the timeframe is January 31, 2016, through February 8, 2017. The Nomination packages must be submitted by E-mail and received by the due date of February 10, 2017, no later than 5:00 p.m., MST. SELECTION: The Regional Awards Committee will select the winner from eligible nominations received by the submission date. PRESENTATION OF AWARDS: The Regional Award winners will be announced and presented at the Spring Regional Training Program (RTP). If the RTP is not held, the award will be presented at the next monthly meeting of the winning Chapter after the RTP. PLEASE NOTE: Beginning 2016-2017 Regional Awards Nominations cycle and as of January 1, 2016, the Best Chapter Newsletter Award will require ALL Chapter s Newsletters to follow National s revised criterion for the Best Chapter Newsletter Award, which specifically requires a copy of the approved E-mail from the National s Publications, Policy and Review Committee (PPRC) for each newsletter(s).
