4 th Grade: Pennsylvania History Prerequisite : Completion of 3 rd grade social studies concepts such as basic geographic literacy; geographic tools, location of places and regions; physical characteristics of places and regions: physical characteristics and physical processes. Course Description: Fourth grade social studies will provide an introduction to United States, State, and Local Governments including the three branches of government, Role of US Congress and State, Bill of Rights, Checks and Balances; Citizenship/Local Government Taxes within the local government and People in State and Local Government. Designed to be implemented over two (2) quarters First quarter will focus on Pennsylvania Today and fourth quarter will focus on People and History of the Formation of our State.
