Organizational Items Call to order: Meeting called to order at 2:04 pm Roll Call Executive Officers: President: Minerva Montane Vice President: Manases "Joey" Hernandez Secretary: June Mihalich Officer of Fiscal Affairs: Darien Barnett Communications Officer: Katelynn Stover Officer of Academic Affairs: Isiah Estrada Officer of External Affairs: Jeffrey Salas Arellano Student Trustee: Tamara Escobar Advisor: Carlos A. Maldonado Senators: Jose Rodriguez Andrianna Chakava - ABSENT Guest(s): Approval of Agenda It was moved by Minerva Montane and seconded to approve the agenda for the Regular Meeting of August 24 th, 2015 as amended. Motion carried. Approval of Minutes- 2. Public Comment: Letters and remarks from interested students: Any member of the public that wishes to address the ASCOD Student Senate on any matter is limited to three (3) minutes. The total time for members of the public to speak on the same or similar issues shall be limited to fifteen (15) minutes. 3. Guest Speaker: None 4. Reports:

ASCOD President:, Got access to ASCOD email. Invited along with Isiah to new faculty luncheon August 25, 2015 Vice President: Attended ASCOD inauguration Attended ASCOD retreat Secretary: Attended ASCOD retreat Communications Officer: Made a social media account for ASCOD (snap chat) Posted picture of all new officers on Facebook along with names, as well as August 24 th meeting Contacted PR person for COD about having a link for students to discuss with other students. Officer of Academic Affairs: Attended Transitional retreat Attending new faculty luncheon Officer of External Affairs: Attended first region IX meeting at Riverside City College Attended with Carlos region IX retreat of about 60 people in San Diego, there was discussion of a possible removal of an officer for region IX officer. Officer of Fiscal Affairs: Meeting with Carlos August 25, 2015 to go over budget ASCOD Independent Senator: Jose Rodriguez: Attended ASCOD Transitional retreat Having meeting with Lisa Howell Green council chair Student Trustee: Missed Board of Trustee meeting but went through the process of getting an excused absence. ASCOD Advisor: This week is Flex, Wednesday Dr. Kinnoman will be giving his address to the college at the Pollock Theater, it will also be live streamed.

There will be Flex presentations; we have 5, 3 in Fall 2 in the Spring. Meeting with Darien about budget, and what expenses were for the retreat to give that information to the senate. 5. Action Items: Consent Items: These items are intended to be routine and non-controversial. It will be acted upon by the Student Senate at one time without discussion. Any member of the Student Senate or any COD Student may request that any item be removed from this section for discussion. Unfinished Business: New Business: 5.1 Spirit Week and Homecoming - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss and possibly take action on forming a Homecoming committee. Joey Hernandez set a motion to create a Homecoming meeting chaired by Joey Hernandez and to report back September 28 th, seconded by Jose Rodriguez Jeffery Salas Arellano moved to amend adding Katelynn Stover and Darien Barnett to homecoming committee, seconded by Joey Hernandez Approval of motion to have Joey Hernandez chair homecoming committee with Katelynn Stover and Darien Barnett to report back to September 28 th, approved unanimously. Motion carries. 5.2 Student Public Forum The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss and possibly take action on creating a monitored public forum for students to communicate with ASCOD. Jose Rodriguez nominates Katelynn Stover to chair committee, she approves, committee consists of Jose Rodriguez, Darien Barnett and Joey Hernandez to create a public forum for students to communicate with ASCOD Jeffery Salas Arellano moves to amend to strike forum and insert online discussion board seconded by June Mihalich Approval of motion of creating a committee chaired by Katelynn Stover, with members Darien Barnett, Jose Rodriguez and Joey Hernandez to create an online discussion board for students to communicate with other students and ASCOD Jeffery Salas Arellano moves to strike to communicate with ASCOD so it reads an online discussion board for students, seconded by Jose Rodriguez.

Jose Rodriguez called a question, Jeffrey Salas Arellano seconded. Unanimous call for question. Unanimous vote yes. Motion carries. 5.3 Fall 2015 Club Rush Budget - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss and possibly take action to select dates and allocate a budget not to exceed $500 for the Fall 2015 Club Rush. Joey Hernandez moves that Fall Club rush takes place September 29 th and 30 th and to allocate a budget not to exceed 500 dollars. Jeffery Salas Arellano moves to strike 500 dollars and insert 1000 dollar budget. Approved unanimously, motion carries. 5.4 Office Rules - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss and possibly take action on creating and designating office rules. Jeffery Salas Arellano moved to create a committee which he will chair to create and discuss office rules and report back on the next ASCOD meeting September 14 th members are Minerva Montane, Jose Rodriguez and June Mihalich seconded by June Mihalich. Motion carries. 5.5 Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Calendar - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss and possibly take action on setting dates for events on the Fall 2015 and Spring 2016 Calendar. Darien Barnett moves that item 5.5 be postponed to next meeting after she has a budget, seconded by Joey Hernandez. Motion carries. Club Charter: 6. Informational Items: 6.1 Office Hours - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss individual senate member office hours that will start September 8th, 2015. Only Darien Barnett and Tamara Escobar submitted hours. Katelynn Stover won t know till after first week of school. 6.2 Public Access to Meetings - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss working to make ASCOD meetings more accessible to public.

Maybe have ASCOD meetings at other COD campuses Work on calendar or list of events highlighting ASCOD meetings Monthly update from ASCOD through COD emails or newsletter Posters for ASCOD meetings, word of mouth Higher ASCOD attendance at events to bring more ASCOD awareness 6.3 ASCOD Camera The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss the need of a camera for ASCOD to record College of the Desert s events. Katelynn Stover needs to set meeting with Carlos to figure out if ASCOD has a camera currently in inventory. 6.4 Student Representative s - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss asking the school newspaper to send a representative to each of the trustee meetings. 6.5 Committees - The ASCOD Student Senate will discuss committee duties and senate members interest in serving on particular committees. ASCOD members will look at times of committee meetings and duties before deciding who is on what committee. 7.
