About EYP-France The European Youth Parliament (EYP) was founded in 1987 in Fontainebleau (France). For 25 years, the association has worked to increase the awareness of young people of their possibilities to exercise their citizenship on a European dimension. It has grown internationally and is now supported by the institutions of the European Union and the Council of Europe. Nowadays, the European Youth Parliament benefits from a strong network of national organisations in over 36 European countries, in and beyond the current borders of the European Union. Since its creation, the European Youth Parliament has aimed to involve young people, from 16 to 25 years of age, in the construction of Europe and European public debate during events without partisan political connotations. It holds parliamentary sessions, based on European Parliament meetings, at regional, national and European scale. These give young people a unique opportunity to share with their European neighbors in a spirit of tolerance and exchange, while getting involved in the democratic process. The European Youth Parliament-France (EYP-France) is a non-partisan, nonprofit association and a member of the European Youth Parliament network. EYP-France relies on a network of 1,000 active volunteers, 12 regional committees and EYP clubs based in 100 colleges and universities throughout the country to organize its many activities such as: a summer forum for students and young professionals, held for more than a week. It brings together about 100 to 200 young Europeans from 18 to 25 years of age; national and regional sessions, lasting 1 to 3 days for students as well as conferences, exhibitions and European debates; information campaigns and consultations with young people across Europe; the celebration of Europe Day on May the 9th and the organization of cultural weeks in Europe. Through these events, EYP-France allows students to become familiar with the democratic process and understand the importance of active citizenship. They experience the art of democratic debate and mutual respect and to learn to discuss in pluralistic environments. EYP-France also supports and enables the development of personal leadership and project management and allows all participants to live a unique and enriching experience of citizenship. 4
