Background In line with the requirements of the CCG Constitution, an election to appoint 7 GPs as Governing Body members is required to be held at least every three years as well as the appointment of 7 GPs for the Clinical Executive. 4 GP members of the GB shall each be a partner or salaried GP of a Member in the East Suffolk Localities 3 GP members of the GB shall each be a partner or salaried GP of a Member in the Ipswich Locality CCG Constitution also states that the appointment of 2 Lay Members and Secondary Care Doctor as Governing Body members is required to be held at least every three years to the Governing Body. The Deputy GB Chair shall be the lay member responsible for Governance. All GPs (including Partners and salaried GPs) across Ipswich and East Suffolk are invited to apply to become either a member of the CCG s Governing Body and/or the Clinical Executive. GPs must be nominated by two GPs who are Partners or salaried GPs of a member. The CCG have asked the LMC to ensure a fair and open process that is inclusive and capable of scrutiny.
Timetable for selection and election process for GPs 05.08.14 Presentation to Clinical Executive - Agree electoral process 11.09.14 Speed dating event at Training and Education Event 11.11.14 & 11.12.14 Understanding the Elections - Day in the life of a GP CCG member workshop (6.30 8.00pm) 25.11.14 Paper to Governing Body to agree process 05.01.14 Invitations issued by COO office to all GPs to stand for election to the Board and/or apply for a Clinical Executive position Packs to be sent out to Practice Managers and uploaded onto CCG website 30.01.15 Return of application form with nominations and 200 word election address by interested parties to LMC. 09.02.15 LMC issues e-ballot papers and supporting information for CE/Board elections to practices 20.02.15 Deadline for return of e-ballot papers to the LMC 27.02.15 LMC declares results of GB elections the outcome will be determined by majority of votes 06.03.15 GP member of GB wishing to stand for election to the role of CCG Chair should nominate themself by sending an email to Louise Hardwick. The nomination should be seconded by another voting member along with a supporting statement of no more than 200 words. 20.03.15 Nominations to be returned by interested parties to Louise Hardwick including statement. 24.03.15 Extraordinary GB meeting of newly elected GB members to elect GP Chair of GB. The list of GP nominations will be circulated with the GB papers. All GB members will be invited to cast a vote anonymously at the meeting. 3
Lay Members and Secondary Care Doctor Appointment process will commence after CE/GB elections thus allowing the newly elected GB and CE to be involved in the appointment. February Email invitation to apply for either of the lay member roles to be issued to CCGs networks, including Suffolk County Council, Borough Councils, Hospitals, local economy. February Invitation to apply for the secondary care doctor to be sent to hospitals in surrounding counties. February Advertising to commence for interested parties eg EADT, CCG website, NHS Jobs. March Interested parties to be invited to a day in the life of a Board Member workshop and/or CCG Patient and Public Engagement event to meet colleagues, April Upon receipt of applications, shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend interview in March. Interview panel to consist of Julian Herbert/Maddie Baker- Woods/New Chair of GB/CEP member. May Commencement of terms of office 4
