Advocating public policies which promote democracy, as well as social and economic justice for all people. Seeking to enhance the professionalization of teaching and supporting higher standards for the profession in particular, and education in general. Fulfilling the legitimate aspirations and needs of members in order to strengthen the institution of public education by advocating for its members and seeking to strengthen and improve the institutions within which they work in a variety of ways, including the preservation of collective bargaining.
