HIGHLANDS COUNTY COUNTY COMMISSION AGENDA ITEM DATE OF ACTION REQUEST: January 16, 2018 PRESENTER: SUBJECT/TITLE: David Nitz, Budget Manager Request approval of Budget Amendment 17-18-024 and Resolution to remove excess budget due to reclassification of expenses into prior fiscal year for the affected Districts. STATEMENT OF ISSUE As part of the end of year process, the Clerk of Courts accountants look for items that were paid in FY 17/18 but should be recorded as an expense for FY 16/17. The Clerk of Courts prepares a journal entry moving the expense from FY 17/18 into FY 16/17. Some of these recorded expenses in FY 17/18 were paid from purchase orders that were rolled from funding in FY 16/17. This budget amendment is removing the encumbrances from FY 16/17 that were rolled forward into the FY 17/18 budget on invoices that were paid in FY 17/18 but reclassified to FY 16/17 that had a FY 16/17 rolled forward purchase order. RECOMMENDED ACTION Move to approve budget amendment 17-18-024 and associated Resolution. FISCAL IMPACT The fiscal impact is a decrease to the Desoto City SBFD, Istokpoga Marsh Watershed Improvement District, and Lake Placid Special Benefit Fire District Funds in the amounts of $150.00, $29,100.35, and $15,720.00, respectively, with an overall budget decrease of $44,970.35.
