The Ventura Rheinland Club was founded in 1965 at the home of Jakob Distl s parents in Ventura. Otto Geller was the first president. Our flag and emblem are from Mannheim, his hometown in Germany. The purpose of the organization was to preserve traditional German customs and festivals, promote the German heritage and Gemutlichkeit, to foster international understanding among the different people of the world, and just to have a good time among friends. From the President: Ralf Moll We had a great time at our annual Mai Tanz. Special thanks to Elsa Allred, Katie Distl, John Hofrath, Inge Holladay, Papa Heinz Trilck and Ralf Moll for participating in the May Dance around the May Pole which was held by Joe Herzog. We look forward to seeing you all at the 48th Annual Membership Dance on June 1. The very next day, we will be hosting our Annual Membership Meeting and Luncheon on June 2 with a complimentary catered meal for paid members only. Your membership must be in good standing (paid for the 2013 year prior to receipt of this bulletin) in order to attend this meeting and luncheon. You also must make reservations by May 20. To reserve your spot, please contact me, Ralf Moll by email at Ralf@RalfMoll.com or by phone at (805) 985-7253 or by fax at (805) 985-1194. We will be paying for your meal, so please make every effort to attend once you make your reservation. Thank you again to all those who have renewed their memberships! Please remember that at the Annual Meeting on June 2, we will be electing four directors to our Board for two-year terms. The two-year terms, currently held by Ralf Moll, John Hofrath, Christopher Vaughn and Miguel Gutierrez are up this year. We are fortunate that both John Hofrath and Christopher Vaughn have agreed to run again for an additional 2-year term and that Uta Marinovich and Susie Skillstad have agreed to also run for the 2 directorships vacated. That makes up the slate of four directors for you to consider at the annual meeting. We hope that you are also considering being a part of the Club s Board of Directors. Please contact Arnold Hockenmaier, Nominations Committee Chairman, if you are interested in being nominated for a director position. You may contact Arnold at (805) 987-0513 or Ralf at (805) 985-7253. We are also making plans for our annual 4th of July Picnic which will be on Sunday, July 7 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. As usual, we are counting on you to bring desserts to share. Please look in the next bulletin for more information about this fun event! We have a lot more fun planned for you in 2013. Please join us for the dances and scheduled activities. We always look forward to seeing you!
