Approval of Agenda Chevalier called for a Motion to approve the Agenda. Cindy Grannan made the Motion to approve the Agenda. Denise Will seconded the Motion and the Agenda was approved unanimously. III. Approval of Minutes A. June 22, 2017 Dwone Ross Sr. made the Motion to approve the Board Meeting Minutes for June. Oralethea Davenport seconded the Motion and the Minutes were approved unanimously. IV. Correspondence A. Letter from Mr. Jim Randall, Frankfort Square Park District A letter dated July 5, 2017 from Mr. Randall stated that as the FSPD is no longer a member of SSSRA, FSPD and school district access will not be available after the current summer programming season. This would also include park access for your Oktoberfest event that would be better placed at a member agency facility. Porter thanked the member agencies who stepped-up to provide additional facility space for fall programs, including Lan-Oak, Olympia Fields, and Park Forest. Porter also thanked Matteson for hosting the upcoming All Camp Day on August 4.
Page 2 V. Public Comment None VI. Community Announcements Olympia Fields: announced their upcoming Festival of the Vine event, from 7-11 p.m. on July 28. SSSRA: Porter circulated a copy of the Tinley Junction, featuring an article on SSSRA s Softball Team s event with the Tinley Park Bulldogs, which was held on June 27. VII. Unfinished Business A. 2017-2018 Appointments Following an introduction of Steve Adams from Robbins Schwartz, Cindy Grannan made a Motion to appoint the firm of Robbins Schwartz as the association s legal counsel, at a rate of $200 per hour for general counsel, and at a rate of $225 per hour for work related to the Frankfort Square Park District matter. Special Olympics State Summer Games Drzewiecki informed the Board that 31 athletes and 2 Unified Partners traveled to State Summer Games at Illinois State University, from June 9-11. The athletes participated in bocce, powerlifting, and track & field events. A list of individual results was provided in the Board packet. 2. Special Olympics Softball vs. Tinley Park Bulldogs On June 27, the SSSRA Stingrays Special Olympics Softball teams took the field at Memorial Park for the 6 th Annual game with the Tinley Park Bulldogs. The Bulldogs provided all athletes and coached with specially designed jerseys. We appreciate the ongoing support of this team and their coaching staff.

Center for Independence, Homewood As part of the association s outreach efforts, the Superintendent and Recreation Specialist attended a Meet and Greet at this center in mid-june. The center serves individuals with physical disabilities. Since that time, SSSRA introduced participants to the game of bocce, and took the group on a trip to the Shedd Aquarium. Although 11 participants were served, including residents from Hazel Crest and Matteson, future events will be dependent on participant residency. 4. Summer First-Timer Report Drzewiecki reported that the association has 46 first-time participants this summer, as compared to 40 last year. 5. Vehicle Update An Invitation to Bid was advertised the week of July 17, to replace one of the association buses, as scheduled for 2017-2018. Recommendations will be presented to the Board at the August Board Meeting. 6. August Special Events B. Administrative A flyer listing 7 special events, a week-long trip, and a fundraising event was included in the Board packet. 1. 2016-2017 Service Statistics and Participation Report - - Attachments A-C Porter reported that resident registrations increased by 8% during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Increases were seen in 8 member communities. A list of communities in order of suggested outreach efforts for 2017-2018 was distributed. Following discussion, the Board concurred that the priority for outreach for 2017-2018 should be: Lansing, Olympia Fields, Park Forest, Tinley Park, Oak Forest, Matteson, Richton Park, Homewood-Flossmoor, Hazel Crest, Country Club Hills. 2. 2016-2017 Summary of Inclusion Services - Enclosure Porter reported that the association supported 115 Inclusion placements during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Inclusion services grew by 28% as compared to the previous year. The association incurred $62,763 in direct Inclusion staffing costs. A breakdown of these expenses by community was distributed. The association is still waiting on word of the Special Kids Foundation grant, in the amount of $25,000.
Page 4 IX. Staff Report B. Administrative (continued) 3. Golf Outing Reminder X. Financial Report A. Claims List Porter reminded the Board of the plans for the upcoming Golf Outing on August 18. The registration deadline is August 4. Vendors supporting the event on the course this year include: Nothing Bundt Cakes, Granite City Brewery, and Old Plank Trail Community Bank. 1. Additional June, 2017 Cindy Grannan made the Motion to approve the Additional Claims List for June, 2017. Denise Will seconded the Motion. A roll call vote was taken: The Motion was approved unanimously by those present. 2. July, 2017 Denise Will made the Motion to approve the Claims List for July, 2017. Geneen Robinson-Smith seconded the Motion. A roll call vote was taken: The Motion was approved unanimously by those present. B. Financial Statement 1. June, 2017 Cindy Grannan made the Motion to approve the June Financial Statement. Geneen Robinson-Smith seconded the Motion and the Motion was approved unanimously.

Executive Session Cindy Grannan made a Motion to go into Executive Session pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(5) for the purpose of discussing the possible purchase or lease of property and pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(11) to discuss probable or imminent litigation. Joseph Bertrand seconded the Motion and a roll call vote was taken: The Motion was approved unanimously by those present. Executive Session began at 9:28 a.m. Joseph Bertrand made a Motion to come out of Executive Session. Oralethea Davenport seconded the Motion and the Motion was approved unanimously. Executive Session ended at 11:08 a.m. XII. Adjournment Stephanie Simpson made a Motion to adjourn the meeting.
