Electorates / Areas Covered in Major Collections of Electoral Studies, Papua New Guinea from 1964 The following index was prepared by Edward Wolfers, Emeritus Professor of Politics at the University of Wollongong. It draws on the Papua New Guinea election books that were published between 1964 and 2007. It shows by province and region the electorates (or related areas) that were covered for each election. Bibliographic details of the election books are provided at the end of the document. Historically, elections in Papua New Guinea have been fought at the local level and studies of them have focused at the local level. This bibliography is designed to help people who would like to compare constituencies or study a particular area over time. If you have any questions or comments email Edward Wolfers (ewolfers@uow.edu.au) or Terence Wood (terence.wood@anu.edu.au). Notes 1. When the focus of a study is on a particular village, community, or electorate(s), it is shown below. However, as areas of study have not always coincided with electorate boundaries, the descriptions of many studies below are only approximate. 2. When an Open Electorate(s) is cited before a Special, al or Provincial Electorate, the study focuses on the area of the latter covered by the Open Electorate. 3. Numbers following the names of electorates refer to pages in relevant collection listed in References (below). 1
