WCSMO-7 7th World Congress on Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization INVITATION On behalf of the International Society for Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization (ISSMO), we are very proud to announce that the WCSMO-7 will be held at the COEX Conference Center in Seoul, Korea, May 21-25, 2007. ISSMO was founded in October 1991 and has held bi-annual World Congresses of Structural and Multidisciplinary Optimization since 1995. One of the purposes of ISSMO is to bring together researchers and practitioners in our field by means of international meetings having high scientific standards, up-to-date conference facilities, and affordable expenses to all members of the Society. The main objectives of the congress are to stimulate and promote research into all aspects of the optimal design of structures and related topics. This includes engineering systems consisting partially of structures and/or fluids, and to encourage practical applications of optimization methods and corresponding software development in all branches of technology. This is stated on the ISSMO website, http://www.issmo.org. We hope that many will attend the congress. We also hope that you will find Seoul, Korea to be an interesting place to visit. We look forward to meeting you at the congress. Prof. Byung Man Kwak Congress Chairman Prof. Martin P. WCSMO-7 CONGRESS TOPICS Contributions are invited from all fields of structural and multidisciplinary design optimization. Papers on theories, methods, algorithms and applications are all welcomed. The topic areas for this congress have been organized into three broad topics: Optimization Methods; Information Management & Processing/ Modeling & Simulation; and Applications. Papers submitted to the first two topic areas should have their primary focus on presenting new methods and tools, whereas papers submitted to the applications area should have their primary focus on the engineering results. Optimization Methods Optimization Algorithms Sensitivity Analysis Methods and Applications Evolutionary & Heuristic Optimization Multidisciplinary Design Optimization Multi-Objective Optimization Approximation Methods in Optimization Optimization with Approximate Models Uncertainty Modeling and Estimation Methods Robust and Reliability-Based Design Optimization Shape and Topology Optimization Structural Optimization and Control Emerging Methods and Applications Information Management & Processing/ Modeling & Simulation Design Frameworks and Computing Environments High Performance Parallel Computing and Visualization Methods Novel Methods for Modeling, Simulation, and Design Emerging Methods and Applications Applications Design Optimization Applications in Industry Aerospace Vehicle Design Optimization Automotive Design Optimization Biomedical Applications of Optimization Design Optimization in Building Structures or Architectural Engineering Design Optimization in Civil Engineering Design Optimization in MEMS, Electronic and Electrical Engineering Design Optimization in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering Design Optimization in Thermal and Fluid Engineering Design Optimization of Advanced and Adaptive Materials ABSTRACT SUBMISSION GUIDELINE Authors are invited to submit an abstract of 500 words or less in English. Each abstract should clearly describe the current status of the work and should clearly distinguish between the original results already on record and those expected. It should not contain figures or extensive references. Abstract submission should be processed by using the on-line submission system of the WCSMO-7 website from September 15, 2006 to January 15, 2007.
