The team visited eight villages and determined to assess the situation of the returnees and identify needs. Returnees cited improvements in the security situation and scaling back of services in Chad as their primary reasons for returning to Sudan. In the return areas, the mission identified the need for urgent assistance in terms of NFIs, water, food, health and education. Rehabilitation of water sources is particularly critical.
