The EU s New Computerized Transit System is recognized as being a highly advanced transit system. The application of the UN TIR Convention in the regions also facilitates transit movement in both regions. There are many Regional Economic Communities (RECs) in Africa and they play key roles in effective transit and transportation there. These initiatives include the management of the One Stop Border Post (OSBP). The session discusses how such practices contribute to economic growth in Africa. 16:30-17:00 Coffee Break 17:00-18:00 Landlocked to land-linked voices of LLDCs and transit countries In this session, participants discuss various initiatives and strategies of LLDCs that may convert them from landlocked countries to land-linked countries. Panellists will share their perspectives on challenges for LLDCs and the importance of efficient transit procedures for their economy. The role of the transit countries is indispensable, and cooperation between landlocked and transit countries is of prime importance. Day 2, 11 July 2017 Time 09:30-11:00 Challenges and solutions for efficient transit This session focuses on existing challenges and solutions for transit facilitation in the context of regional integration. The session discusses how efficient transit regimes may contribute to regional economic integration, as well as inclusive and sustainable economic growth. The session also focuses on the prominent role of Customs administrations in streamlining complicated transit procedures. 15:00-16:30 Very technical but significantly important Transit Guidelines The session brings together Customs experts on transit who contributed to the development of the WCO Transit Guidelines. The session reviews some of the key standards in the Guidelines, and Members practices which may be of interest. In this session, participants will learn about the basic principles of the Guidelines and their main components.
