Please see the reverse side for the meeting agenda. Minutes from last year s meeting are enclosed. It is especially important that system members (voting members) return the delegate form to us and attend this meeting so that we have a quorum and are able to conduct business. The purpose of this notice is to: Publicize the date of the annual meeting. Request the names of official voting delegates from system members who will attend the annual meeting, and Publicize open positions for election to the GSRWA Board of Directors, along with nomination procedures. Voting Delegates System members ONLY may submit the name of one voting delegate and one alternate delegate for the purpose of voting in this meeting. Names of delegates are requested to identify official representatives of the voting membership authorized to participate in the business of the Association. The alternate delegate is named in the event that the voting delegate is unable to participate in the Annual Membership Meeting. Please return the enclosed Certification of Delegates, no later than September 8, 2017, by mail to Granite State Rural Water Association, PO Box 596, Walpole, NH 03608 or by fax to 603-756-3675, Thank you. Election of Directors During the meeting, delegates from system members will vote to elect one qualified candidate to serve on the GSRWA Board of Directors. There is one open seat. Only managers, certified water operators and/or wastewater operators, or those actively involved with the overall operation and management of a System Member, may serve on the Board of Directors. Directors serve for a period of three years beginning at the conclusion of the meeting at which they were elected. If you are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please mail or fax a letter of interest and a short bio summarizing your qualifications no later than Friday, August 26, 2017. Thank you. Granite State Rural Water Association Annual Meeting September 13, 2016 The annual meeting was called to order at 8:30 am by GSRWA Board President, Phil Maltais. Phil led the Pledge of Allegiance. There was a report of delegates and determination of quorum by Vice President, Bob Fagnant. It was made known that GSRWA director, Dennis Nadeau, was not able to attend the Annual Meeting because he was representing GSRWA at the NRWA Conference Jennifer Palmiotto, Executive Director, made an introduction thanking everybody for coming. The Head table was introduced, including Phil Maltais President, Bob Fagnant VP, April Busfield BOD, Gary Lynn Keynote Speaker, and Bill Hounsell (GSRWA Policy Analyst). There was a review of highlights of the day and a special Thank You to 15 show sponsors, training class presenters and Taste Test Judges, Jane Downing (EPA), Sarah Pillsbury (NHDES), and Mark Kowprowski (USDA). All staff, temporary staff and volunteers were thanked for helping to make the Field Day possible. The Keynote Address was presented by Gary Lynn Administrator of the MtBE Remediation Bureau. He discussed possible funding options for current and future MtBE remediation projects. Bob Fagnant presented the minutes from last year s meeting and they were approved. He then presented the Treasurer s Report which showed a clean opinion for 2015 and that the Association is in good financial standing even though net assets had decreased. There was an election for 2 open seats on the Board of Directors. Phil Maltais was elected for another term and Jason Randall from Plymouth Water and Sewer District was elected for the other seat. The 2016 Awards of Excellence were presented. 2016 Gold Sponsors Ferguson Water Works and New England Backflow were presented with awards of appreciation. 2016 Show Sponsor EJ Prescott was presented with an award as well. Barbara Reid from NH Municipal Association was presented with the 2016 Rural Water Advocate award. David Danielson and Peter Leishman were both presented with 2016 Distinguished Legislator awards. An award was presented to Bob Naylor for his service on the GSRWA Board from 2013-2016. 2016 Operator of the year award was presented to Michael Bergeron who had previously won the award in the past. 2016 Training Instructor was awarded to Warren Verga. At the Operator Field Day & Exhibit Show September 12, 2017 Newbury, NH NH Drinking Water Taste Test Contest Enter your sample and let the judges decide if your system has the best tasting water in New Hampshire! Eligibility: 1. Entrants must be current GSRWA system members and must be systems located in New Hampshire. 2. The water system must have no outstanding MCL violations within the last 12 months. Contest Rules: 1. To enter, contestants must submit two chilled samples. Samples must be in GSRWA supplied 1-liter glass containers. 2. Entries must be submitted to the GSRWA registration desk at the Operator Field Day by 9:30 AM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017. 3. Samples must be accompanied by a contest entry form see reverse side. 4. A system representative must be present to win. A panel of judges will select the winning entry based upon clarity, odor, and taste. The winner will be announced during lunch at the Operator Field Day. What Could You Win? One representative from the winning system will receive and all expenses paid trip to the National Rural Water Association s Rally in Washington, DC to be held in February 2017. The winning system automatically qualifies to enter the Great American Taste Test, a national drinking water taste test competition.
