In Dallas, Texas, an EF4 tornado touched down the day after Christmas and destroyed many homes. In St. Louis, Missouri, where the Missouri and Mississippi rivers meet, heavy rain has caused the rivers to crest at a high level and flood the surrounding towns. The heavy rain will continue to impact these regions for the next couple of weeks. In the midst of these disasters, Disciples have been compassionately helping many of these communities. First Christian Church of Rowlett, Texas immediately turned their church facility into a hospitality site to provide hot meals and emergency supplies to first responders, police officers, and victims impacted by the storms. Real Faith Christian Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi provided emergency clothing and food to the victims in the community. In addition, many other Disciples churches in these areas sent volunteers and donated supplies to help with the recovery efforts. Disciples will continue to be present in the months and years ahead as these communities begin to rebuild. In the year 2015, Disciples responded to many disasters through Week of Compassion both at home and around the world. The latest fourth quarter report provides a
comprehensive list of places where our Church has been a presence of hope and healing to communities in need. Week of Compassion is able to respond because of your compassion, generosity, and partnership. And as we move into 2016, we are grateful for your continued witness and support as we work to provide relief to many more communities in the coming weeks and months. Thank you.
