RESOLUTION No. 11 The Semi-annual Council Audit of the accounts of the Financial Secretary and Treasurer is one of the most important processes performed by the council audit committee, which consists of the grand knight and the board of trustees, and The council is required to file an annual 990 tax report by a specific date based on its fiscal year, to remain eligible under Supreme s income tax exemption umbrella, and The process to reinstate a council s non-profit status is both complicated and expensive, and The audit committee uses Form 1295 to report the results of each audit to the council, district deputy, state deputy and Supreme Council, and The compliance with this mandatory audit insures the financial integrity of all council accounts, and the continued bonding for the financial secretary and treasurer, and One of the more common council requests received by state advocates pertains to the Council EIN so that it can file its IRS Form 990, Now, Therefore Be It Resolved, That the Council Audit Committee require proof that the IRS Form 990 has been filed and include this fact in its Audit Committee report to the council, and That the Form 1295 be modified to require the council EIN and date the IRS Form 990 was submitted. Be I Further Resolved, That these same revisions be made to the Annual Assembly Audit Form 1315. Submitted: Mississippi State Council
