Senate business was paused while the Medical University of South Carolina Women's Club was officially recognized. Then a SC Senate Resolution to recognize and honor Mrs. Ann Edwards was presented by Senator George (Chip) Campsen. It was introduced by Senators Campsen, Cleary, Campbell, Grooms, Thurmond, and Bennett. "This was a total surprise, I really was overwhelmed" said Ann. Hiking at Laurel Hill Park ~2.5-3 miles. This is a new county park in the Park West neighborhood of Mt. Pleasant. If you would like to bring a picnic we will stop at the large open lawn with picnic tables for a break & lunch. There are no restroom facilities in this park but good facilities are at the parking area. Children, bicycles and dogs on a leash are welcome. Directions: Turn left onto Park West Blvd from Hwy 17N Go through the traffic circle and continue on the Blvd. Turn left at the 4th left turn. This will be the 2nd sign for the Mt. Pleasant Recreation Complex. Go straight & park close to the last set of ballfields in front of you. That is where we will meet at 10am.
