Image of Cooperatives in 2014 In particular in the 1990s and the early 2000s Cooperatives have often been perceived as: Old Fashioned and Dusty A relict of the past in the attic of economic history books A dying business model (through demutualization) then came the Financial & Economic Crisis of 2008 onwards And Cooperatives became more popular again: - Due to their more stable and resilient economic performance during the crisis - As the preferred business form for new collaborative enterprises - Through more promotion during the UN International Year of Cooperatives 23
