The Bayou Social Honoree Gala The Bayou Social Gala, formerly the Celebrity Waiter Event, is in its 4th year and stands as Terrebonne Parish s American Cancer Society s Fall fundraising event. The Patrick F Taylor Hope Lodge served over 1300 patients in 2016 alone by providing over 15,000 free nights of lodging for patients and caregivers receiving treatment far from home. Managing four grants funded by Anthem Foundation, NFL, Walgreens and CDC with the goal of reaching a total of 400 colorectal cancer screenings and 5000 breast cancer screenings. Partnering with state and hospital systems to facilitate development of a Community Medical Neighborhood. Currently funding 2 research grants at Tulane University & LSU Shreveport totaling $2,171,000.00 Partnered with the LSU Cancer Research Center to facilitate a national cancer research tour to highlight some of New Orleans brightest and promising researchers. Working with several hospital s throughout the Greater New Orleans area to increase their colorectal cancer screening rates to achieve a 80% screening rate by 2018.
