Motion made by Jim J and seconded by Scott to accept the October task force minutes. No discussion was held and minutes were unanimously. Treasurer Report - Income and expenses reviewed by Jim R. Balance on hand -

Committee Reports: $33,677.76 - A motion is needed to approve payment to Central MN Counseling Center for a mental health evaluation for a service connection claim for a veteran - It was stated that Allina encourages employees to volunteer and makes a donation to organizations their employees volunteer at. A check was received from Allina for volunteer work by Denise B., but was made out to BYR so returned to be re-issued to Isanti County. Website Committee: Scott reported 103 new website hits for a total of 4,394. All flyers up to date. All friends updated. Need to sort by category or type. No new friends on Facebook. Billboard Committee: Gaylen not present. Bob B asked Greg A to look at key locations in his 3 townships where BYR signs could be placed. Bob B also stated the large billboard signs on Hwy 65 by Isanti and Hwy 107 by Braham are purchased and maintained by Northland Landscaping. Friends of BYR and Resource/Brochure Committee: Report sent by email from Denise B. No changes in the brochure, will be updated after the new year. I have contacted 8 of our Friends and there are no changes. Support our Troops/Military Family Support Group: A thank you note was received from Paul Cole thanking us for the box of goodies. Jim R distributed the Deployed Serviceperson Soldier Address Card. This information is to be completed to send a box or quilt. Jim R also distributed the Volunteer Information cards. Gail G stated she will get a list of items that soldiers need, especially the female soldiers Bob B gave a reminder that First Responders through the Isanti County sheriff s department will do house checks for deployed service members. Congregational Committee: Bob spoke with Bryce. Bryce wants to offer services to couples in the 850 th who are being deployed. Fundraising: Gail reported: a) Ongoing fundraiser at Star 95 Car Wash. Anyone purchasing the 5 Star car wash will get a $5.00 discount if they make a donation to the BYR at the register. Also, a camo quilt with patch will be displayed at Star 95. If you purchase a 5 Star car wash you can enter into a drawing for the quilt using your cash register receipt. This will be posted on the BYR website. If you like IC BYR on Facebook and like the fundraiser posters it will send the posters - Motion made by Gail G and seconded by Carol Ann S to approve this payment. No discussion. Motion unanimously. -

Old Business out to your Facebook friends. Good advertising for us. b) The Executive Committee discussed the Blue Star banner issue and decided that we will not purchase the banners directly, but request our veterans organization representatives to notify their respective organizations about this opportunity. Each banner is $15.00 and is USA made. Will need approximately 158 for the 850 th deployment. c) The Pine City Blue Star Moms are having a fundraiser tomorrow at the Pine City VFW to raise funds to send Holiday packages. 5:30-7:30 pm Italian dinner and silent auction. You are encouraged to like them on Facebook. Camo Quilts for Troops: Bob & Mary are on vacation. Bob B reported that 322 quilts have been made with 182 on hand. They have material for 100 quilts on hand. School Liaison: Randy P will call the 1 st Sergeant from the 850 th in December to set up a meeting with him. Bob B stated that Randy P is retiring Saturday after 40 years in military service. No report offered for: Community Resource Coordinator Law Enforcement (Bob B stated that after the elections Bob and Susan will begin looking for funding so that MN law enforcement can attend the UMPCI class on De-escalation Tactics for Veterans in Crisis). Events Report: 1) The Snowflake Parade is this Saturday, November 17 th at 6:00 pm in Cambridge. IC BYR members are invited to walk in the parade with our banner and each person carrying a small BYR sign. We will not have the float this year. Line up at 5:30 pm Gail G will email details 2) A Penny a Pound fundraiser at Clarence s recycling is at 220,000 pounds per Bob B 3) Star 95 car wash fundraiser Bob stated about $1,000 raised since November 1 st. The goal is $2,500 so the fundraiser will continue 4) Bob B stated he would like professional placquesk and certificates made for Clarence s Recycling and Star 95 to thank them for all they do for us. The Executive Committee will explore this and bring a recommendation to the task force. 5) Quilt kit prices have risen. $2,750.00 needed to purchase quilt kits. Congratulations Randy!! New Business a) New email address: The IC BYR has a new email address effective immediately isanticountybyr@gmail.com This will be used for minutes, agendas and all IC BYR communication to task force members. Members are asked to not use the email address to the IC CVSO office. b) Arctic Plunge: We have been invited to sell chili at the Arctic Plunge pre-event on Friday, March 1, 2013. Discussion centered on the amount of chili to make and could we also participate on Saturday. c) BYR decals and magnets: Stock is very low and we need to purchase more decals and magnets. New squad cars need decals. We will be going with a new company. d) Pre-deployment Training: The 850 th Horizontal Engineers will have their 1 st formal pre-deployment training this Sunday at Normandale Community College in Bloomington. Gail will have a IC BYR vendor booth from 8:00-4:00. All are welcome e) Nominations: Nominations for all elected positions are being accepted. Offices are Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Fundraiser. Discussion held on duties of each office. Nominations to date are: Chair Bob Boone, Vice- Chair Susan Morris, Secretary none, Treasurer Jim Rostberg and Fundraiser Gail Genin. Nominations will be taken up until the December meeting. f) Gas Cards: Bob stated the Executive Committee would like to have a few gas gift cards on hand for immediate needs of Veterans as we have no petty cash fund. Bob related a recent situation. Discussion held. It was mentioned that Holiday has a gas only card available. Priority use would be to help the Veteran get to work, school or drill. by Jim J to pay additional costs. No discussion. Motion unanimously a) b) Motion made by Mary F and seconded by Kathy R thatwe participate in the Arctic Plunge Friday, March 1, 2013 to sell chili. After discussion, motion unanimously c) Motion made by Don G and seconded by Mary F to spend up to $1,000 on the purchase of new decals and magnets. No discussion, motion unanimously d) e). f) Motion made by Jim J and seconded by Carol Ann S to purchase $500 worth of gas only gift cards at $25 each. No discussion, motion unanimously g) New Friends of BYR No new friends MISC - The Knights of Columbus and the Masonic Lodge are collaborating for a fundraiser for the Harbor Room. A dinner will be held November 24 th at Christ the King Parish Hall. Tickets are $6.00 and that will be matched by the 2 organizations for a $12.00 donation to the Harbor Room. Tickets available at the door or from a member (see Bob, Jim or Susan). - The 2013 Executive Committee will complete the paperwork for the Isanti County BYR to be its own 501 3 (C) charitable organization and move away from the County governance. This would allow us

to be our own fiscal agent. The next meeting is Monday at 5:30 pm - Bob B was a guest speaker at Braham High School on Veterans Day - Susan M shared that she attended a meeting focused on counties supporting the military. Experts shared ideas. Susan shared what IC BYR offers and stated we are light years ahead of everyone else. - Susan thanked Jim R for being so generous with his time to assist all Veterans, military and IC BYR - Susan gave kudos to Gail G for all of her volunteer hours to the IC BYR IC CVSO website Jim R stated that Isanti County Veterans Service Office now owns its own website isanticountyveteran.org This goes directly to the IC CVSO office where there is a link to the BYR. Jim s daughter is working on making the website more robust. Veterans can use this website to learn how to file a claim for benefits.
