September 17, 2017 Air India launches non-stop flight service from Delhi to Copenhagen Air India has launched its direct flight to the Danish capital Copenhagen from New Delhi on the 16th Sept 2017. This is the 11th destination for the national carrier in Europe, describing it as connecting 'Maharaja with the Mermaid'. The flight landed at the Copenhagen airport after more than a seven-hour journey. In Air India's trademark style, the inaugural flight was operated by an all-woman crew. The Air India service to Copenhagen will be operated with a Dreamliner aircraft thrice a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Home Minister launches Swatchhta Hi Seva Campaign On the 15th Sept 2017, the Home Minister Mr Rajnath Singh launched the nationwide Swatchhta Hi Seva Campaign organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs. Rajasthan announces farm loan waiver After a lot of protests and delays, the state Govt in Rajasthan has announced a waiver of farm loans to the extent of Rs 20000 cr. All loans upto Rs 50000 will be waived off from the farmers. Rajasthan is the fifth state in the country to waive farm loans after Maharashtra, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. 2017 Global Study on least and most stressful cities: Stuttgart, Germany at the top On the 13th Sept 2017, the report on the least and most stressful cities of the world was released. The study was done by a London based firm called Zipjet. Stuttgart in Germany came out on top as the least stressful city to live in the world, while India s Bengaluru and Delhi came at a lowly 130th and 142nd respectively, out of the 150 cities studied, which means that Delhi is the 8th most stressful city in the world. China displays first unmanned helicopter On the 15th Sept 2017, China displayed its first unmanned helicopter AV500W for foreign buyers. The aircraft s length is 7.2 meters and its maximum takeoff weight is 450 kg. Its maximum speed is 170 kmph Force Motors ties up with Rolls Royce to set up engine plant Force Motors announced on the 13th Sept 2017 that it has tied up with Rolls Royce Power Systems to set up an engine plant near Pune. The plant will produce multiple types of Power systems to be used in the Railways and Power Generation. The plant will produce for both Indian and international markets. Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh passes away Marshal of Indian Air Force Arjan Singh passed away in New Delhi on the 16th Sept 2017. He was 98. Born at Lyalpur now known as Faisalabad in undivided Punjab, Marshal Arjan Singh, joined the Air Force at the age of 19 in 1938. First ever UN Envoy for Oceans appointed by UN The United Nations has appointed Peter Thomas as the its first ever envoy for Oceans. 15-year-old Shapath Bhardwaj qualifies for ISSF World Cup Finals for shooting Indian teenager Shapath Bhardwaj has qualified for the prestigious ISSF World Cup Finals for shooting. Having become the country's youngest athlete to figure in the government's Target Olympic Podium scheme, the 15-yearold, who clinched an individual bronze medal in the Junior World Cup in Italy last month, will compete in men's double trap alongside Ankur Mittal and Sangram Dahiya.
