EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME 2012 European Social Dialogue

Dear Friends, We are delighted to present you our programme for the year 2012. Please find attached a list of the educational initiatives we are planning to host in cooperation with our associated partner centres and for which we would like to invite your contributions. The following pages address all the major challenges that are facing the European employee organizations in these times of crisis. It is not mere coincidence that one of the main topics for this year s programme is as it was for its predecessor in 2011 the Europe 2020 strategy. Eleven seminars will discuss each in their own different way how to develop and implement strategies of successfully combating income poverty, a phenomenon which is increasingly becoming a shameful blight on our societies. The wide range of seminar topics on the following pages clearly demonstrates that the Social Dialogue is not something that takes place in its own little niche, outside society s main theatres of action. On the contrary: the Social Dialogue is an essential element of the broad institutional, political, economic and social reality in Europe. Which is why employee organization and employer federations alike as well as the national governments must seek for fair solutions to the financial, the economic and most of all the sovereign debt crisis which have seized Europe. In the EU member states, the Social Dialogue is a patchwork of opportunities and restrictions, of traditions and achievements, of national and sectoral bodies of consultants, of negotiations and collective bargaining processes. It is part of our educational mission to provide deeper insights into this network of interacting forces in order to pave the way for a more powerful and more effective Social Dialogue across the European Union. On the following pages, you will find all the information you need about the organisations responsible, seminar locations and times and the expected conference languages. You will find a short description of the content of the seminars on our internet page (www.eza.org). We will be pleased to send you our electronic newsletter, EZA News, which provides information about our work, four times a year. You can order it from our internet page (www.eza.org) or directly by e-mail. We hope that this programme will be of interest to you and will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
