Mahmood (in the chair) On hearing the news of the sad demise of Professor Ishtiaq Ahmad, retired professor and a former chairman of the department, the members observed two minutes silence, prayed for the peace of the departed soul and adjourned the meeting to another date.
The meeting was resumed on 05.10.09 with 15 members present. Page 2/12 Since no reply had come from the Office of the Controller of Examinations in respect of the Resolution passed by the Board of Studies in its meeting held on 12.9.09 the house decided to adjourn again till a reply was received. The meeting was resumed on 12.10.09 with 15 members present. The Chair submitted for the consideration of the house the reply received from the Deputy Controller (Admissions) vide D. No. 1039/Adms, dated 07.10.2009 (reproduced here as Annexure I). When Item (1) of the Agenda of the Ordinary Meeting of 26.9.09 for confirmation of the Minutes of the last Ordinary Meeting of the Board of Studies held on 12.9.09 was taken up a letter signed by Prof. M. Arif Hameed and others was delivered to the Chairman (reproduced here as Annexure II). The Chair observed that he had duly transmitted the said Resolution of 12.9.09 to the concerned office through the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, in good faith and that he was legally barred from disclosing confidential documents. The meeting was then again adjourned and resumed on 18.10.09 with 12 members present. It was now decided to follow the Procedure of Admission to M. Phil/Ph.D. programmes for the academic session 2009-2010, as circulated vide D. No. XM/PA/997/09, dated 04.7.2009. Phil and Ph.D. programmes Page 12/12 Annexure II The BOS had decided in the meeting held on 12.9.2009 that a letter should be sent to the Controller of Exams. to seek official guideline on the issue of declaration of a combined list of applicants for admi. To Ph.D. in PL, PA and HR so that the BOS may decide whether separate tests for all the three disciplines (PL PA HR) should be declared or the combined list already issued by the Chairman will be considered. In pursuance of the above decision of the BOS, the Chairman sent a confidential letter to Dy. Controller, vide D. No. 917/A/PS(Confidential) dated 23.9.2009 which contravened the decision of the BOS regarding the above issue. The letter also contained some personal opinion of the Chairman regarding the validity and desirability of the establishment of separate award of the degrees of M.A. and Ph.D. in PA and HR. The BOS has decided that the second part of the letter in which the Chairman made certain personal remarks about the Chairman also agreed to with draw the letter for which he should write to the concerned office for with drawing that letter.
