Lee Center, Alexandria, VA. The meeting was called to order by Soror Althea Matteson, Basileus at 10:00am. Meditation: Led by Soror Toni Pearson. Greetings: Soror Gayle Jordan, Hodegos (Zeta Chi Omega) Introduction of visiting sorors. Visiting sorors included Soror Althea Mattson, Soror Khadijah Johnson, Soror Lashaun Stancil, Soror LaSonya Black, Soror Charlene Gomer, Soror Kiesha Powell, and Soror Sherri Chambers. Quorum: Soror Yvette Darnaby/Soror Althea Matteson Zeta Chi Omega 123 sorors present; quorum established. Sigma Alpha -1 soror present; quorum established Adoption of Agenda: Soror Althea Matteson Deletion: Remove Strategic Planning from the Agenda MOTION: Soror Gloria Bell moved to adopt the agenda with the noted correction. Motion seconded. Call for the vote. Motion carried. Reading and Disposition of June Minutes Soror Patricia Edwards, Grammateus/ Soror Althea Matteson Zeta Chi Omega: Correction: Soror Beverly Anderson led the Meditation Correction: Change March to May in Reading and Disposition of Minutes MOTION: Soror Hazel Cameron moved to accept the June minutes with the noted corrections. OFFICER REPORTS Basileus: Soror Althea Matteson (Sigma Alpha) Presented written report Reported that one member of Sigma Alpha registered and attended the 67 th Boule in Atlanta, GA Reported that one member of Sigma Alpha registered for the Regional Undergraduate Roundup, scheduled for September 23-24, 2016, in Greenville, NC Basileus: Soror Rhonda Luss (Zeta Chi Omega) Report is also in the Ivyette. Northern Western Cluster is scheduled for October 29, 2016 in Herndon, VA, at the Hyatt Regency Dulles. Sorors are encouraged to donate a backpack filled with healthy snacks. Presented flowers to Sorors LaFrances Williams and Michelle Jones for their outstanding service to the Sorority. Soror LaFrances Williams finished her term as the Mid-Atlantic Representative to the International Nominating Committee, and Soror Michelle Jones finished her term as the Northern Western Cluster Coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Anti-Basileus-Soror Althea Matteson (Sigma Alpha) Presented written report The Chapter will host an on-campus information session to provide information about Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, to prospective candidates. Tamiouchos Soror Robin McCoy (Zeta Chi Omega) General Fund Account: Beginning Balance as of May 29, 2016 $ 68,497.56 Total Revenue $ 71,721.38 Total Expenditures $ 15,043.00 Ending Bank Balance as of August 31, 2016 $ 56,678.38 Property Fund: Beginning Balance as of June 1, 2016 $260,134.47 Ending Balance as of August 31, 2016 $267,002.33 Report will be filed for audit. Pecunious Grammateus: Soror Crystal Lander Total Membership as of 08/31/2016: 382 Total Cash Receipts for period 06/01/2016-08/31/2016: $4,134.90 Hodegos: Soror Gayle Jordan Reported that eleven birthday floral arrangements, four condolence floral arrangements, and one get well floral arrangement were delivered during the summer months. Congratulated Soror Robin McCoy on her upcoming nuptials to Mr. Timothy Norris. 2

Congratulated Soror LaVonne Shingler on her retirement from 23 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. Congratulated Soror Ester A. Stubbs-Varnado on her retirement. STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS Program Target III-Family Strengthening-Soror Melanie Barrington Presented written report In observance of Childhood Hunger Month, the Childhood Hunger program recommended participating in the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) s Backpack Buddies program. The program provides weekend and holiday meal packs for food-insecure Arlington County schoolchildren. The Chapter will provide backpacks for 100 children at the cost of $7.50. The funds are in the Target III budget. Connection: Soror LaFrances Williams, Chairman Presented written report Reported that there will be an opportunity for Sorors to register for the upcoming election on September 10, 2016, and October 1, 2016 prior/after the Chapter meeting. The Chapter will hold Voter Registration in front of Giant at 3115 Lee Highway in Arlington, Virginia on September 17 th, October 8 th, and October 15 th. Reminder: Deadline for Voter Registration: Virginia-October 17, 2016 Maryland-October 18, 2016 District of Columbia- October 11, 2016 Standards: Soror Jennifer Hansborough, Chairman Presented written report Thanked Sorors Kathy Collier, Amanda Pratter, Hazel Cameron, and Carol Turner for assisting with the annual chapter retreat. Most of the evaluations of the retreat were positive. Recommended Action: The 2017 Zeta Chi Omega retreat should be a planning retreat with sisterly relations activities. There are still outstanding Committee Mid-Year reports. The Standards Committee will continue to contact committees with outstanding reports. Archives: Soror Monique Robinson, Chairman Presented written report Sorors are asked to provide a copy of their Golden, Silver Star, and/or Life Membership Certificates at the September Chapter meeting. New dates to tour the Award Winning Chapter Archives will be announced at the October and November meetings. Sorors are encouraged to visit. Alpha Kappa Alpha s Pioneering Sorors Open Doors Exhibition kicked off at the Boule. There were 600 Sorors featured from all over the world. There were 160 Sorors from the Mid-Atlantic Region and five of them were from Zeta Chi Omega. The following Zeta Chi Omega Sorors were recognized at Boule exhibit: Patricia Monget Richard, Marjorie Williams, Faye Gunn, Musetta Tia Johnson, and Brigadier General Belinda Pinckney. Nominating-Soror Bonnie Jones Moon, Chairman Presented written report and skit to encourage members to run for office. 3

The Nominating Committee solicited candidates for the following positions: Anti-Basileus, Anti- Grammateus, Tamiouchos, Anti-Pecunious Grammateus, Epistoleus, Hodegos, and Four (4) Nominating Committee positions. Applications are available from Nominating Committee members and on the Zeta Chi Omega website. Applications are due to the Nominating Committee by September 17, 2016. They can be emailed to nominating@aka-zco.org. AD HOC COMMITTEE REPORTS Founders Day 2017: Soror Saundra McCullough-Cobey, Chairman Presented written report and skit to I m So Excited! Founders Day Luncheon is scheduled for Saturday, January 28, 2017, at Fort Belvoir Officers Club in the Mount Vernon Room. The celebration will take place from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The cost is $40 per person. Payments may be made at the Chapter meeting and via PayPal on the Zeta Chi Omega website. This event will be a self-sustaining event. Sisterly Relations: Soror Nekia Freeman, Co- Chairman Presented written report Thanked everyone who made the Chapter picnic a phenomenal event. In an effort to facilitate connectedness in a chapter of more than 350 members, Zeta Chi Omega has Sister Circles. Sister Circles (SC) align smaller groups of sorors based on geographic location providing an opportunity for sisterly bonding on a smaller scale. Sister Circle #14, which encompasses the following zip codes: 22306, 22307, and 22310, is in need of a Sister Circle Leader. All Sister Circle Leaders (SCL) are encouraged to join the Sisterly Relations Committee. DGS-Soror Starr Garrett, Chairman Presented written report The DGS Lunch/Bingo activity for the Chapter s Golden and Silver sorors will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016, from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM, at the KAF Multipurpose Center in Alexandria, VA. There is a $100 deposit needed to secure the reservation for the room. The rental fee is within the DGS budget. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS MOTION: Soror Gwen Felder moved that all the expenses for the Basileus and Anti-Basileus be paid for conferences. Seconded. Discussion. Soror Tia Johnson moved to table the discussion and refer the motion to the Finance Committee for clarification. Seconded. Call for the Vote. Motion Carried. IFNV: Soror Hazel Cameron, President ANNOUNCEMENTS 4

The IFNV requested to present the Annual Report to the Chapter members immediately following the September Chapter meeting. The IFNV requested that members consider applying for the four openings on the Ivy Foundation of Northern Virginia Board. The IFNV is seeking a Chairman for the Debutante Cotillion. Luncheon Fashion Show: Soror Jennifer Hansborough, Chairman The 58 th Annual Cooley-Moore Scholarship Luncheon Fashion Show will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016, beginning at 2:00 PM, at the Hilton McLean in McLean, Virginia. Ticket prices are $75, and table prices are $750. Time and Place: The next General Membership meeting for Zeta Chi Omega will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at the Nannie J. Lee Center at 10:00 am. The next General Membership meeting for Sigma Alpha will be held on Sunday, October 9, 2016, at Marymount University.
