The agreement was signed in April 2002 at the Euromed Meeting of Foreign affairs Ministers in Valencia. Ratification in progress. 1

SERBIA & MONTENEGRO SYRIA UKRAINE Draft Commission for a Council decision authorising the Commission to negotiate an agreement on trade in textile products with Serbia and Montenegro (adopted by the Council 16/6/2003) association agreement with Syria, 18.12.1997 Products between the EC and Ukraine (not yet adopted), expected to be concluded in 2004 adoption foreseen in September 2004 and renewal of agreement to be negotiated and adopted afterwards Steel Agreement, adopted by the Council on 19/11/2001. A negotiating mandate to adapt the quantitative limits on import on certain steel products to take account of EU enlargement received on 29 Finalized, initialled on 22 June 2004 4

UZBEKISTAN Products between the EC and Uzbekistan (not yet adopted) adoption foreseen in October 2004 and renewal of agreement to be negotiated and adopted afterwards VIETNAM commission to the council in order to authorise the commission to open negotiations with the socialist republic of Vietnam on the amendment of the bilateral agreement on trade in textile and clothing products initialled on 15 December 1992, as last amended on 17 November 1997 adopted by Council on 10 December 2002 New mandate to negotiate renewal of the agreement with adoption foreseen end September 2004 December 2002 Agreement in the form of an Exchange of Letters amending the Agreement between the European Community and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam on trade in textile and clothing products and other market opening measures, and authorising its provisional application approved by Council and published in the OJ on 20 June 2003. Ratification in progress. Renewal of the agreement to be negotiated in autumn 2004 5
