4) Approval of Previous Minutes a) National Council Meeting, September 20, 2014 m/s Lori Walton / Jack Gale That the minutes of September 20, 2014 be approved. Recorded vote # 1. MOTION CARRIED. b) National Council Meeting, Teleconference of November 25, 2014 m/s Bill Walsh / Alain Courcelles That the conference call minutes of November 25, 2014 be approved. Recorded vote # 2. MOTION CARRIED. 5) Business arising from previous minutes a) Biographies of Life Members, May 2014, St. John s, NL Sister Lackie indicated that the biographies will be added to the GSU By-laws prior to the Local President s Council which will be held at the end of May 2015. 6) New Business Sister Lackie advised the National Council that Brother Daniel Charron resigned as Regional Vice-President for the National Capital Region. However, Brother Charron will remain a member of the Royal Canadian Mint Bargaining Team and as well as Vice-President of CRAPO. a) Issues arising from GSU Convention Sister Lackie indicated that she was very proud of the work done by GSU delegates at Convention. This is the first time in the history of GSU that all convention business was dealt with. b) PSAC Convention 2015 Sister Lackie briefed National Council on the following: GSU delegates will be staying at the Delta Hotel in Quebec City. Sister Thomas will be sending a call out letter to all Locals to find out who will be attending the PSAC Convention as observers. A Caucus will be held with all the delegates and observers. (Details to be confirmed.) Regarding alternates attending PSAC Convention, Sister Lackie will look into this and she will inform National Council accordingly. 7) Guest Speaker (Howie West, PSAC Officer) Brother Jack Gale introduced Brother Howie West, PSAC Work Reorganization Officer. Brother West presented a session on Work Force Adjustment. He briefed the National Council on what is a workforce adjustment situation and how to deal with various situations. Brother West also encouraged National Council to refer to the PSAC website as a reference tool. He also stated that if anyone has any questions in the future that they should not hesitate to contact Brother Gale and Brother Gale can in turn, contact him. 8) Round Table The meeting ended with a round table discussion. Brother Courcelles: It was a good learning experience. He now has a better understanding between Public Works and Government Services Canada and Shared Services Canada. Brother Courcelles mentioned that he was very disappointed that no one from management from the Royal Canadian Mint were available to attend the meeting. Brother Walsh: It was a great meeting and a good learning experience. Sister Walton: She thanked the National Council for voting in favour for an Award of Merit for Brother Curtis Jarvis, Local 80052. Sister Walton was able to present Brother Curtis with the award before he passed away. Brother Cameron: Great week, good work, good learning curve. Good learning tools for the Communications Committee. Brother Howard: He stated that it was an excellent meeting and a very good learning experience. He is looking forward to working with the Locals. Sister Harding: She thanked everyone for a great job. It was a good learning experience. They were great presentations from PWGSC and SSC. She now has a better understanding on how Shared Services operates. Sister Harding mentioned that she enjoyed meeting the Regional Directors Generals (RDGs). Brother McGillis: It was a great week. Good discussion. We can learn from Ian Capstick presentation good learning tools. Brother Cotte: Good meeting. However, he was disappointed that the discussion with the Regional Director General was too short. There was not enough time to participate in the discussion. Brother Thomson: Thanked Sister Lackie for all of the work she does and for helping the Local when needed. Sister Lackie: She thanked the National Council members, the GSU staff and the Interpreters for all of their dedication and hard work this week. 9) Adjournment The meeting adjourned at 3:15 p.m. MOTION CARRIED.
