Utah State University Club Baseball Constitution Article I: Mission Statement/Goals The purpose of this club shall be to show appreciation for the game of baseball while actively practicing and playing at a competitive level in the National Club Baseball Association to learn and develop baseball skills along with sportsmanship Article II: Parameters of Membership Section 1. Membership Eligibility. Membership in the Utah State University Baseball Club shall be limited to Utah State students currently enrolled at the Universities main campus, satellite classes, or online classes and meets the National Club Baseball Association s requirements for membership (12 credits for the 2016-2017 school year). All athletes must have a 2.0 GPA per the Club Sports Program policy. Members of the Baseball Club shall be eligible to vote at meetings. Section 2. Non-discrimination Policy. The Utah State University Baseball Club shall not discriminate against any individuals by refusing membership based upon age, race, color, sex, religion, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation. All who share a love for the game of baseball shall be welcome. Section 3. Membership Responsibilities. Members of the Utah State University Baseball Cub shall attend at least one half of all meetings, practices and games scheduled and pay semester dues to maintain membership in the club. Section 4. Financial Obligations. Upon making the team, players are expected to pay dues prior to receiving their uniform before the first game. If players cannot pay full due amount prior to first game, no less than $100 shall be accepted in order for player to participate in game. A payment plan shall be set up with the Treasurer, and approved by President and Vice President, for players who cannot afford to pay dues in full. This information must be shared with the Competitive Sports Coordinator for internal record keeping. Section 5. President, and Vice President Financial Obligations. Because of the duties of the President and Vice President they each will not be required to pay team dues. It is up to the discretion of the President and Vice President to decide if the remaining officers must be required to pay team dues. Section 6. Resignation. Members shall be asked to resign from the club if they fail to attend one half of all meetings; practices and games scheduled and/or fail to turn in dues on time. Officers shall be asked to resign if it is decided by a two-thirds majority vote of all active members that the officer in question is not fulfilling the duties of his or her position. The Faculty Advisors shall remain in their position indefinitely, unless decided by a two-thirds majority

vote of the membership that the Faculty Advisor in question is not fulfilling his or her responsibilities. Article III: List of Officers/Duties Section 1. Elected Officers. Elected Officers of the Utah State University Baseball Club shall be the President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. Candidates running for office must announce their intent at the meeting and/or practice previous to the last meeting of the year. Officers shall be elected according to a two-thirds majority vote (51%) of members present at the last meeting and/or practice of every other academic year. The term for all officers shall be one academic year, beginning at the end of the spring semester after previous presidency s term has ended. Elected officers must be members of the Baseball Club at the time of their election. Section 2. Officer Duties. a. The President shall be responsible for the overall operations of the Baseball Club which include but are not limited to: Conduct all meetings. Prepare a schedule and make sure each member is informed. Making sure that the officers of the baseball club are performing the duties of their office. Serve as a liaison between the Baseball Club and Campus Recreation and Student Organizations & Activities. Meet regularly with the Baseball Club faculty advisor. Handle Internal issues within the baseball club. Schedule fall and spring games. Attend monthly officer meeting. Make any amendments necessary to the Club Baseball Constitution. b. The Vice President shall be responsible for the listed duties, which include but are not limited to: Conduct meeting in the absence of the President. Replace the President in the even that he vacates his position. Shall assist President, at his request, with any of his duties. c. The Secretary shall be responsible for the listed duties, which include but are not limited to: Shall maintain up-to-date records of the membership of the club. Shall prepare the agendas for the meetings. Keep up-to-date team stats for the club. Call in stats to media. Keep website up-to-date. d. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the listed duties, which include but are not limited to: Shall keep record of all dues paid or unpaid from members of the Baseball Club. Keep up-to-date financial records.

Shall be the general supervisor of the finances for the Baseball club. Shall assist in the preparation of a semi-annual budget. Shall organize fund-raisers and securing of community donations. e. The Travel Coordinator shall be responsible for the listed duties, which include: (appointed position) Make sure the traveling team s accommodations are in order. Make sure that all financial matters are handled correctly with the treasurer. Make sure transportation is provided to and from each away game. Ensure all liability and travel forms are completed. Article IV: Terms of Selection/Removal of Officers Section 1. Selecting Officers. Each officer has a term of one year from June 1 st to June 30 th or whenever the season has officially ended. Elections will take place the last week of April when the majority of the team is present at a team meeting. Any player who has been on the team for at least one full year can run for office. Section 2. Removal of Officers. Impeachment or removal from office can occur if an officer is not keeping up with their responsibilities. Each officer will be given two warnings before a vote for impeachment will occur at a special team meeting. These warnings can come from other officers, or through a vote by the team. If the president vacates their position during the school year, the vice president will take their spot. If the vice president or social coordinator vacates their position, the team will nominate a new officer. Article VI: Advisor/Coach Section 1. Executive Committee. The four officers, as well as the appointed officers and the Faculty Advisors, shall comprise the Executive Committee, and shall maintain a check and balance system within the Executive

Committee. The duties of the Faculty Advisors shall include making educational contributions to the Baseball Club. Section 2. Advisor. Jaclyn Gidley, Competitive Sports Coordinator. Section 3. Coach. As Utah State Club Baseball we will have a volunteer coach for our team. The coach can be either a volunteer from the community, or a student coach. The coach must be accepted by a two-thirds vote of (51%) members present at the last meeting of each school year. Section 4. Coaching Responsibilities. The coach is to be an instructor for the baseball club, as well as assisting the President, and Officers with their duties. Coaching is done on a volunteer basis. The coach must keep in line with what the Club Sports handbook states: A Club Sport is first and foremost a student organization and as such, the student officer(s) must serve as the liaison(s) between the club and the Campus Recreation staff. The key to the success of the Club Sports program is the emphasis placed on student leadership and development Article VII: Amendments Procedure By a two-thirds vote of (51%) members present, the constitution shall be amended. The proposed amendment must be announced at the meeting preceding the voting meeting. Amendments added to the constitution shall include the date of the addition in parenthesis in the constitution. The constitution shall include the date it was last revised. Article VIII: Meetings Section 1. Officers. The officers meeting will be determined by the President and held on a bi-weekly basis. Section 2. Overall Club Meeting. The regular meetings will be determined and announced by the president and officers. A quorum of two-thirds of the baseball club s membership must be present at all business meetings. A minimum of two officers must be present at all meetings. Meetings will be held on a monthly basis or as often as the officers deem necessary. Article IX: Misconduct on/off the Field Section 1. Academics. Every member that is a student must maintain a 2.0 grade point average and 9 credits, or however many are required by the NCBA, to stay in the club. Section 2. Utah State University Rules and Regulations. In the event that a member of the baseball club breaks a rule of the University they will be considered to be on probation from the Baseball Club. Section 3. On the Field Misconduct. In the event that a member of the baseball club is thrown out of a game or practice by an umpire official or officer due to

any unsportsmanlike conduct involving physical harm and threatening gestures the member will be asked to vacate the playing field and considered to be on probation immediately from the Baseball Club. Section 4. Probation Period and Process. In the event that a club member is issued probation the process and period will be as follows: a. Put on probation for misconduct. b. Attend a jury board meeting held by the officers, and depending on severity of actions leading to probation, and faculty advisor where the members misconduct will be reviewed and his or her probationary period in full will be determined. c. While under probationary terms, the club member must attend all meetings, unless he or she is excused by the executive committee for a certain reason. d. While under probationary terms, the club member will be able to practice, but unable to participate in games and/or travel with the team. e. Extermination of probation cannot be quickened in any way. The member will be off of probation at the date set by the executive committee. Article X: Affiliations Section 1. The Utah State University Baseball Club shall be affiliated with the National Club Baseball Association. Section 2. The Utah State University Baseball Club will follow the rules set forth by the National Club Baseball Association in regards to play and eligibility.
