Structures TC Membership Structures TC Membership includes: 37 Members 7 International Members 5 Associate Members 63 Friends 112 Total The Structures TC uses the Friend category to introduce newcomers to the TC Committee membership is limited by AIAA to 35 members, so longstanding members of the TC are returned to friend status on an annual basis to make room for new members
TAC News (1 of 2) AIAA TC applications are under review Deadline to apply was November 1; new applications roll over to the next review cycle Roster update & annual report due to AIAA by January 30 Norm Wereley (U. of Maryland) is the new Deputy Director for Structures in the Aerospace Design and Structures Group Replaces Carlos Cesnick (U. of Michigan), who is currently on sabbatical Norm is Professor and Department Chair of Aerospace Engineering at the University of Maryland; he is an AIAA Fellow with many honors and awards, and he served on the SDM Long Range Planning Committee for many years TAC executive telecom minutes are provided to the TC chair bundle as pdf files and distribute to the TC? 11

Structures TC Mid-Year Meeting Mid-year meeting took place on Thursday September 11 at the University of California San Diego, Department of Structural Engineering Professor Chiara Bisagni did a great job hosting the meeting and guided us through a very nice tour of laboratory facilities Meeting minutes have been drafted and are in the editing cycle will be archived on the TC website North Lab SRMD Facility Structures & Materials Engineering Bldg Englekirk Research Ctr. (~10 mi. East)
Goals for 2015 (1/2) Strategic planning Complete survey of TC on goals and objectives Start drafting mission and vision statements, goals and objectives for review by the TC Establish subcommittee membership Facilitate standing subcommittees and recruit new subcommittee chairs as needed Continue subcommittee telecons for more detailed discussions every 2 to 3 months Provide TC support as needed to ensure a successful SDM at SciTech 2016 14
Goals for 2015 (2/2) Continued higher participation from the TC members Each TC member should serve on 1 subcommittee Friends (especially those wanting to become members) are highly encouraged to serve on subcommittees and can even chair them Several subcommittees could use a few more people Formation of other relevant subcommittees is always welcome Just come talk to me about what you would like to do or directly to subcommittee chairs 15
