EV introduc0on in Latvia Ø Electric vehicles in Latvia introduced rela0vely late Ø E- mobility mostly developed by private and NGO sectors Ø First charging sta0on installed in Riga in 2010 by local charging sta0on manufacturer (ELTUS). Ø Several NGOs are ac0ve in this field such as Zero Emission Mobility Support Society, Green energy technology cluster (Kurzeme Business Incubator) represen0ng 60 companies. Ø Pilot projects in municipali0es (Riga, Liepaja) and state owned companies (Latvenergo, Rigas Sa0ksme) Ø In 2012 Latvian Centre for Excellence in E- mobility was created. Ø First state support program expected in 2013.
E- mobility development mo0va0on Economical Geographical Poli0cal Environmental + high gas prices for local purchase power - No incen0ves from government + small distances. Makes it suitable for implemen0ng current e- mobility technology - Cold climate + Reduce energy dependence + EU policies regarding CO2 emission reduc0on - Budgetary restric0ons + Reduce pollu0on CO2 emissions. Green electricity mix.

Ø EV charging infrastructure not included un0l 2014. Ø Support for free EV parking on Riga city streets and municipal car parks Ø Support for free EV entrance in Jūrmala City and Riga Old Town.
