December 5, 2016 A meeting of the Westfield School Committee was held on Monday, December 5, 2016, at 7:00 pm in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 59 Court Street. Members present by roll call were: Mr. Bill Duval, Mr. Jeffrey Gosselin, Mrs. Diane Mayhew, Mrs. Cindy Sullivan, Mr. Kevin J. Sullivan, Mr. Ramon Diaz, and Chairman Brian Sullivan. At 7:03 pm Chairman Sullivan called the meeting to order. 1. Pledge of Allegiance: Chairman Sullivan asked if anyone was taping the meeting and if so, please state your name and address: no response. 2. Public participation, excluding personnel: none 3. Paper Mill Elementary School presentation: Ms. Kennedy, Principal, and students were in attendance. Students shared art work with the committee. A two minute recess was called. 4. Westfield Technical Academy student representatives: Tyler Simpson and Peyton McTavish were in attendance and updated the committee. 5. State of the District: Superintendent Czaporowski reviewed a Power Point presentation with the committee (attached). 6. Approval of the ovember 21, 2016 School Committee meeting minutes: moved, seconded to approve the regular School Committee meeting minutes of ovember 21, 2016. All were in favor. 7. Approval of home school applications HE103-1617 to HE105-1617: moved, seconded to approve home school applications HE103-1617 to HE105-1617 for the 2016-2017 school year. All were in favor. 8. Approval of Westfield Technical Academy Trip to ew ork City, December 20, 2016: moved, seconded to approve the Westfield Technical Academy trip to ew ork City on December 20, 2016. All were in favor. 9. 2 nd /final reading, by title only, of policies: a. File: BG School Committee Policy Development moved, seconded for 2 nd /final reading, by title only,

Approval of Memorandum of Agreement with Westfield Education Association: moved, seconded to approve the Memorandum of Agreement with the Westfield Education Association, as presented, to allow for the additional pay of $500 for the month of ovember 2016 for additional responsibilities related to Health Service Liaison and authorize the Chari to sign on behalf of the committee. Chairman Sullivan 11. Approval of Memorandum of Agreement with Westfield Lunch Association: moved, seconded to approve the Memorandum of Agreement, with the Westfield Lunch Association, as presented, to allow all union eligible members to participate in a bidding in December 2016 for a manager vacancy in January 2017, and authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the committee.

Acceptance of Westfield Public Schools Special Revenue Accounts, ovember 2016: moved, seconded to accept the ovember 2016 Westfield Public Schools Special Revenue Accounts, as presented, ovember 2016. Chairman Sullivan 14. Superintendent s Report a. Acceptance of gifts/donations: moved, seconded to accept the following gifts/donations: - Munger Hill Elementary School, Great American Opportunities, $60.00, gift account, educational purposes - Paper Mill Elementary School, Great American Opportunities, $72.00, gift account, educational purposes

Chairman Sullivan b. John & Abigail Adams Scholarship: Mr. Czaporowski announced 97 Westfield High School students and 11 Westfield Technical Academy students received the John & Abigail Adams Scholarship. This is an increase of three students from last year. c. Other: Mr. Czaporowski recognized Mrs. Dargie for having received an award at a recent Westfield State University annual meeting for teachers and education majors. He also provided an update on the refugee enrollments, Botvin health curriculum, and gave a shout out to Westfield High for a recent Mass College Celebration to assist seniors in applying for college. 15. Mayor s update: Mayor Sullivan stated if you have any opportunities to get out to the schools for the upcoming celebrations please take advantage of them. 16. School Committee update: none 17. Reports: reported the Human Resources & Policy Subcommittee met earlier this evening to review and discuss policies. Policies will be brought forward at the next meeting. b. Minutes: none
