VISA INSTRUCTIONS To enter Turkey and study there you must obtain a Turkish Education Visa before departure for your program. The Turkish Consulate regularly changes their instructions to obtain an Education Visa. The instructions below were the most current at the time of this posting. Check the Turkish Consulate s website and, if necessary, contact the Consulate to verify all application instructions. Make a copy of all completed forms and required materials to keep for your own records before mailing the originals to the Turkish Consulate. Note that it is not possible to apply or obtain a student visa through Turkey s recently implemented e-visa system. Students are required to fill out and submit an application. Please follow the instructions below to apply. Non-U.S. citizens should contact the Turkish Consulate immediately for any special instructions in addition to those below. The process and requirements may be different and may be more time-consuming. Students with Turkish citizenship may be required to obtain the visa with their Turkish passport, even if they are dual citizens and hold two passports. If you have a Turkish passport, make sure it is valid for at least one year, or for three months beyond the end of your program, whichever is longer. Access the visa application form through the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Scroll down to visa form, open the link to the visa application form, and then do the following: -Complete the application form on the computer and print it out for mailing. - Complete the form fully and neatly - most fields are obvious. - In #9, print the name of the country that is issuing your current valid passport. - In #13, US citizens check Ordinary Passport. Non-US citizens check whatever is applicable. - In #18, print STUDENT. - In #19, print Not Applicable. You are entering Turkey as a student, not as an employee of a business.

SUBMISSION: Submit the visa application form PLUS THE FOLLOWING SUPPLEMENTAL DOCUMENTS: (1) Your valid passport. It must be valid at least 3 months longer than your planned studies in Turkey. Non-US citizens may need to submit additional travel documents, re-entry permit, etc. (2) Visa application fee. Pay using a money order as personal checks will NOT be accepted. The application fee is $60, but you should call the consulate to confirm as the cost changes frequently, by location, and by nationality. (3) One passport-style photo attached in the appropriate space on the application form. (4) Photocopy of your financial support (any combination of financial aid award letter, scholarship award, bank account statement, savings account statement, etc.). (5) Photocopy of your flight reservation/itinerary. (6) Admission letter from your Turkish host university. Because Turkish universities often send hardcopy admission letters later than is ideal for the visa application, you may submit a printed color copy of an electronic admission letter if your Turkish University has emailed you one. Of course, whenever possible, it s preferable to submit an original hardcopy letter. (7) Participation letter from UCEAP (shows your student status and proof of insurance). The UCEAP Systemwide Office will email you this letter; print out a copy and include it with your visa application. (8) Self-addressed, pre-paid return envelope (addressed to your own address from the Turkish Consulate). Use a mailing service that has a tracking feature. The Consulate will use this envelope to return your passport to you, with visa, so be sure there is correct prepaid return postage.
