Kappa Psi Delta Lambda Chapter By-Law XVII Local Chapter Ordinances

Ordinance 1: Title This Chapter shall be known as Delta Lambda Chapter, hereinafter referred to as the Chapter, according to the Charter granted by Alpha Chapter of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Incorporated, hereinafter referred to as the Fraternity, under the date of January 21, 1988. No additions to By-Law I, Section 2 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 2: Membership All Members shall participate on at least two (2) standing committees. Brothers are expected to attend enough events to receive the required amount of points, as outlined by the Chapter s Code of Conduct Policy. Ordinance 3: Election of Members All persons may be proposed for candidacy that are presently enrolled in the Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences, including masters students who have received an acceptance letter to pharmacy school or are professors thereof. Candidates must fulfill the requirements for remaining in the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences as established by said school. No additions to By-Law III, Sec 2 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 4: Officers and Order of Election The Officers of the Chapter, the order of Nomination, and the order of Election shall be: Regent, First Vice-Regent, Second Vice-Regent, Recording Secretary, Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer, Historian, Chaplain, Sergeant-at-Arms, Pledgemaster, Ritualist, Assistant Pledgemasters (2), House Manager, and as many Grand Council Deputies as the Chapter sees fit. Six (6) Judiciary Committee Members including one Chair from those six shall also be elected, however they will not be officers of the Executive Committee. Ordinance 5: Qualification, Election and Installation of Officers The nominations for all officers shall occur during the Chapter meeting immediately preceding the last Chapter meeting of the fall semester. The elections shall occur during the last Chapter meeting of the fall semester. Nominations can also be made at the elections meeting. The Judiciary Committee members shall be nominated and elected, with nominations occurring at the end of Officer Nominations and elections occurring at the end of Officer Elections. The Formal Committee Chair will be elected following the selection of the Judiciary Committee. A Member must have attended a minimum of one (1) formal as a Member of the Chapter to qualify for the position of Formal Committee Chair.

Assistant Treasurer and Assistant Pledgemasters shall be reserved for first year students. The Member elected to the position of House Manager shall be expected to reside within the Chapter House. Sec. 5. Sec. 6. Sec. 7. No additions to By-Law V, Sec 2 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law V, Sec 3 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Officers will be installed during the last Chapter meeting of the fall semester. In the case of any newly elected Member failing to be present for installation to their designated Office, the Office in question shall be declared vacant by the installing Officer. Accordingly, another election shall be held to fill the vacancy and said vacancy shall be filled within three (3) weeks. In the case of resignation of any Officer, a written statement of resignation must be submitted to and accepted by the Chapter before the Office may be declared vacant. No additions to By-Law V, Sec 7 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 6: Duties of Officers No additions to By-Law VI, Sec 1 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter The office of Vice Regent shall oversee all preparations and undertakings of the Service Committee and the Rush Committee. Sub-Sec. A. The First Vice Regent shall also ensure that Members participate on a least one standing committee. Upon appointing committee members, the First Vice Regent shall ensure that all previous committee chairs will serve on their successor s committee in order to aid in the transition period of the new chairs. Sub-Sec. B. The Second Vice Regent shall oversee all preparations necessary for Rush by presiding as Rush Committee Chair. The Second Vice Regent shall also ensure that all new Members sign the Brothers Against Drunk Driving (BADD) contracts. The Recording Secretary shall order all supplies needed by the Chapter. It will also be the duty of the Recording Secretary to oversee the preparation of the Chapter Composite. The Recording Secretary shall also be present at the Judiciary Committee Meetings. The Corresponding Secretary shall be responsible for correspondence from the Regent, Officers, and other fraternal business; compose and mail a letter to all first-year pharmacy students informing them of the Fraternity; compile two (2) yearly directories for fall and summer containing phone numbers and, addresses

(school and home); compile a new phone list of all Members to be used by pledges; be responsible for all mailing materials (stamps, letterhead, envelopes); maintain a full list of all Members of the Chapter since the Charter was given; and perform all such duties as the Chapter shall impose and as custom attaches to the office. The Treasurer shall receive rental payments and submit the total amount to the University by the 1 st of every month. The Assistant Treasurer shall oversee all events associated with any fundraising for the Chapter by presiding as the Fundraising Committee Chair and serve on the Finance Committee. The Historian shall be responsible for taking pictures at all Chapter events; maintain a current photo album; compile a slide show for fraternity functions; and maintain correspondence with The Mask four times a year. No additions to By-Law VI, Sec 8 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter The Sergeant-at-Arms shall preserve order by controlling excessive noise and talking out of turn by Members; enforce the payment of dues and fines levied against Member by the Judiciary Committee; and serve as the prosecutor in any hearing concerning conduct unbecoming of a Member. The Sergeant-at-Arms shall also preside as Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. The Pledgemaster shall instruct the pledges to the history of the Fraternity and of the Chapter and also any other information found in the Pledge Manual. The Pledgemaster shall instruct the pledges as to their training duties as the Chapter imposes and what shall be required of them. The Pledgemaster shall perform all such other duties as the Chapter imposes and as custom attaches to the Office. The Pledgemaster shall encourage the pledges to choose Big Brothers. All activities of pledges must go through the Pledgemaster. The activities must include but are not limited to: one service project, and one fund-raiser as prescribed by the Pledgemaster.

Sec. 15. The Ritualist shall supervise the work of the ritual and shall be responsible for the charge and care of all Regalia associated with the ritual. The Ritualist shall be responsible for ritualistic functions at all Chapter meetings and at any other times as might be deemed appropriated. The Ritualist shall have the authority to call practices in reference to ritualistic proceedings. Sec. 16. Sec. 17. The Assistant Pledgemasters shall assist the Pledgemaster in the discharge of said duties and shall perform such portions of said duties as the Pledgemaster may assign to them. It shall be the duty of the House Manager to assure proper care of the Chapter House and Grounds, making sure all maintenance issues are reported immediately to plant operations of the University. The House Manager, together with his or her committee, shall strictly enforce all House Rules. The House Manager shall refer any violations of the House Rules to the Judicial Committee to allow for appropriate disciplinary action against said individuals. The House Manager shall assign all Brothers to clean-ups as defined in the House Rules and maintain a calendar of House events. The House Manager will also be responsible for collecting lease agreements from House residents and setting all move-in/out dates as well as notifying residents of room checks and any other dates pertinent to residence. The House Manager shall possess a key to each resident s room in case of room-checks or lost keys. He or she shall also perform all such other duties as the Chapter shall impose and as custom attaches to the office. The House Manager shall serve as the Chair of the House Committee. The House Manager shall serve on the Finance Committee. Ordinance 7: Committees and Their Duties Sec. 5. Sub-sec. A. Sub-sec. B. No additions to By-Law VII, Sec 1 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter The chapter shall also have the following permanent committees: Formal, Finance, Fund Raising, Golf, Intramurals, Public Relations, Rush, Tutorial, Service, Province, Web Page, and House. Proposed new By-Laws are reviewed and brought to the Chapter by the Legislative Committee. The Scholarship and Awards Committee is responsible for overseeing the application process for the Brie Anne Reynolds Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity Delta Lambda Chapter Memorial Scholarship. Specifically, the committee is responsible for overseeing the selection process from a pool of applicants for the scholarship. The Campbell University College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences Scholarship Committee will then award the scholarship to the selected individual. In the process, the committee will select a group of three to five (3-5) faculty members to assist them. The committee should also ensure that this selection is made appropriately, as otherwise stated in the The Graduate Relations Committee will be known as the Professional/Graduate Concerns Committee. The Professional/ Graduate Concerns Committee is responsible for coordinating the publication of the Chapter Clips (once per semester). This includes collecting a committee report from each committee chair about the current events of that committee and a report from the Regent. These reports must be complied into a newsletter to inform the fourth-year professional (P-4) Members and Graduate Members of Chapter affairs. The Committee must also keep the addresses currently updated. The Public Relation Committee is responsible for promoting the name of the Fraternity in the community and encouraging interaction between pharmacy and the public.

The Intramural Committee is responsible for communication between the Intramural Office and the Chapter, including notification of all intramural events and any changes in these events. The Formal Committee is responsible for planning the formal and selecting a Brother of the Year award recipient. Once the committee is no longer in use (fall semester) it is the duty of the First Vice Regent to reassign the committee members to other committees that are in use. The Fund Raising Committee is responsible for all activities pertaining to raising funds for the Chapter. The Golf Committee is responsible for coordinating the Annual Golf Tournament. It is the duty of the Rush Committee to coordinate three (3) Rush functions in the fall and two (2) rush functions in the spring, as well as keep the required records necessary for determining which rushes shall receive bids. The Tutorial Committee is responsible for holding tutorial sessions for the pledges in subjects that the committee feels is necessary. The Service Committee is responsible for the planning and supervising of all projects undertaken for the good of the community and the profession of pharmacy. Two (2) service projects are required by each Member during each semester. One of these projects is to include the Adopt-a-Highway cleanup once a semester. Attendance will be recorded by the service chair for each event. Service projects should be performed each semester. The Province Committee to organize Province when it is hosted by the chapter. When not hosting Province it is the committee s responsibility to inform Members about Province assemblies and Grand Council Conventions. They also need to keep up with forms, deadlines, and submit any funding requests that are needed. The Web Page committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the Chapter Web Page and linking it to the National and Province websites. A written report of all meetings shall be turned into the Recording Secretary by the end of each month. Each Committee shall be responsible for keeping accurate

records of all activities and other important information pertaining to that committee and shall pass that information on to the new chairman. Officer/Chair Meetings are mandatory for officers and committee chairpersons. If a committee chairperson cannot be present he/she should have the co-chairperson or someone else representing the Committee must be in attendance at the meeting. The Executive Committee, standing committees, and special committees are authorized to meet by electronic communication media so long as all members have the ability to participate. Sec. 7. No additions to By-Law VII, Sec 7 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 8: Records No additions to By-Law VIII, Sec 1 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 9: Unethical Conduct No additions to By-Law IX, Sec 1 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law IX, Sec 2 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law IX, Sec 3 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 10: Meetings The Chapter shall meet the first Tuesday of every semester and every other Tuesday thereafter, or on an alternate day as the Chapter sees fit. No additions to By-Law X, Sec 2 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law X, Sec 3 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law X, Sec 4 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Ordinance 11: Dues Sec. 2 During the initiation semester, each new member will pay dues totaling to ninety dollars ($90.00). Of this total amount, forty-five dollars ($45.00) will go towards the Grand Council Membership Fee, five dollars ($5.00) will go towards the Brie Reynolds Scholarship Fund, and the remaining forty dollars ($40.00) will go towards the Chapter Dues. For the remaining semesters up until the Member s P-4 year, dues will be eightythree dollars ($83.00) per semester. Members in their P-4 year shall pay only twenty-seven dollars and fifty cents ($27.50) per semester or a total of fifty-five

dollars ($55.00) for the year. Of this total amount, fifty-two dollars ($52.00) will go towards National Dues, and the remaining three dollars ($3.00) will go towards the Chapter Dues. Dues may be paid in one lump sum or on a semester or monthly basis, or by arrangement with the Treasurer. Sec. 5. No additions to By-Law XI, Sec 3 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter No additions to By-Law XI, Sec 4 of the Uniform Collegiate Chapter Any Member not in good standing with the Chapter two (2) weeks after the beginning of classes in August and/or in January will be brought before the Judiciary Committee to have their status reviewed. When a Member is in arrears to the Chapter, the Treasurer and Corresponding Secretary shall inform the Member of the amount in arrears within forty-five (45) days, excluding the summer, by Registered Mail. The member shall then have thirty (30) days to make arrangement for payment of his debts. If arrangement is not made within thirty (30) day period, the case shall be brought before the Judiciary Committee for review of the Member s status. Any brother deemed to be in arrears with the fraternity would be unable to receive or apply for reimbursement from Kappa Psi for any event related to Kappa Psi.
