ISSAQUAH SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 411 KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON SCHOOL BUS LEVY RESOLUTION NO. 1104 A RESOLUTION of the Board of Directors of Issaquah School District No. 411, King County, Washington, providing for the submission to the qualified electors of the district at a special election to be held therein on February 13, 2018, of a proposition to authorize the district to levy an additional tax for one year to provide a total of $2,000,000 for the District s Transportation Vehicle Fund for the purchase of school buses. RESOLUTION NO. 1104 A RESOLUTION of the Board of Directors of Issaquah School District No. 411, King County, Washington, providing for the submission to the qualified electors of the district at a special election to be held therein on February 13, 2018, of a proposition to authorize the district to levy an additional tax for one year to provide a total of $2,000,000 for the District s Transportation Vehicle Fund for the purchase of school buses. WHEREAS, the educational facilities of Issaquah School District No. 411, King County, Washington, (the District ) are in need of new buses to meet the current and future educational needs of its students; and WHEREAS, the District recognizes the need to purchase new buses to serve growing enrollment; and WHEREAS, funds available to the District will be insufficient to enable the District to implement these purchases; and WHEREAS, the District, has had in effect an additional tax levy for one year (2014 for collection in 2015) to enable the District to purchase new buses; and WHEREAS, the collection of an additional tax levy for one year expired in 2015; and WHEREAS, in order to pay the cost of bus purchases found necessary by the Board of Directors, it is deemed advisable that the District levy a tax upon all the taxable property within the District, such levy to be made commencing in 2018 for collection in 2019, as authorized by the State Constitution and RCW 84.52.053; and WHEREAS, the question of whether or not such tax may be levied must be submitted to the qualified electors of the District for their ratification or rejection; and WHEREAS, the conditions here and above set forth require the holding of a special election in the District;

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF ISSAQUAH SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 411, KING COUNTY, WASHINGTON, as follows: Section 1. Finding. It is hereby found and declared that the welfare of the students and other residents of the District requires the District to carry out the plans hereinafter provided. Section 2. Authorization of Improvements. The District shall acquire school buses to meet projected population growth and allow for the retirement of older and more costly to operate buses. Section 3. Authorization of Levy. It is hereby found and declared that best interests of the District require the submission to the qualified electors of the District of the proposition whether the District shall make the Transportation Vehicle Fund levy for their ratification or rejection at a special election to be held on February 13, 2018. For the purpose of providing funds necessary for the needs described in Section 2 above, King County Elections, as ex officio supervisor of elections in King County, is hereby requested to call and conduct such special election to be held within the District on such day and to submit to the qualified electors of the District for their approval or rejection, a proposition providing for a tax levy for the Transportation Vehicle Fund for the year 2018 (2019 collection), to provide $2,000,000. The estimated levy rate depends upon the final dollar amount of assessed value of the property within the District. At this time, based upon information provided by the King County Assessor s office, the estimated levy rate for the 2018 levy is $0.07 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation. -2- P:\20287_CMW\20287_BV6 10/06/17

Section 4. Requested Ballot Form. The Secretary of the Board of Directors is hereby authorized and directed to certify said proposition (Proposition 3) to King County Elections, as ex officio supervisor of elections in King County, substantially in the following form: PROPOSITION NO. 3 ISSAQUAH SCHOOL DISTRICT SCHOOL BUS LEVY The Board of Directors approved Resolution No. 1104 authorizing a levy for school buses. This levy funds new and replacement school buses and authorizes the following excess levy on all taxable property within the District: Collection Year Approximate Levy Rate/$1,000 Assessed Value Levy Amount 2019 $0.07 $ 2,000,000 all as provided in Resolution No. 1104. Should this proposition be approved? YES......... NO......... The Secretary of the Board of Directors of the District is hereby authorized and directed to deliver certified copies of this resolution to King County Elections. Section 5. Notices Relating to Ballot Title. For purposes of receiving notice of the exact language of the ballot title required by RCW 29A.36.080, the Board hereby designates (a) the District s Chief of Finance and Operations (Jacob B.
