College of the Sequoias Spring Update E President Carrizosa will share a brief update on our district students attending COS and the latest developments in community college. B. Career Technical Education (CTE) Update F Carmita Pena will provide the School Board an update on CTE programs at Woodlake High School. C. Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) Score Progress G F.J. White Principal Nancy Stidman will present Winter DRA scores for grades 1 and 2. D. Long Term English Learner Report H The Board will be given a report on the status of Long Term English Learners in Woodlake Unified. E. After School Program Update I Mr. Billington will give the Board an update on the After School Program. F. Woodlake Unified 4G LTE District Wide Wi-Fi Project J The Board will be presented with information regarding plans to use one time funds to build a network to provide the vast majority of students with internet access at home. H. Solar Energy K The Board will be presented with information regarding Solar Energy for the District. I. Cal-Card Procedures L The Board will be presented with an overview of the guidelines and procedures for use of the District Cal-Card. V. ACTION ITEMS (non-routine items needing discussion or short-notice items or those requiring immediate review) A. Fee Waiver: Woodlake Youth Soccer M Woodlake Youth Soccer is requesting a fee waiver for the use of the High School Gym. WHS, WVMS, and CRES students will practice indoor soccer to further develop soccer skills in a 1V1 setting with the goal being that each player will have a repertoire of soccer skills/moves that will allow them to develop their own signature moves. The season would run from March 15 th to August 30 th, 5:45 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. All times are contingent on WHS availability. Staff recommends approval. B. 2016 Sober Grad at Adventure Park N The Sober Grad Committee is requesting that the School Board waive the fee for transportation to Adventure Park on the evening of June 10, 2016, 11:00p.m.-5:00a.m. The trip provides graduating seniors the opportunity to celebrate graduation in a safe and fun environment under the supervision of parents and community members. The cost of transportation is approximately $450.00 for two school buses. The cost of admission to Adventure Park will be covered through fundraising and community donations. Staff recommends approval. C. Review and Certification of Second Interim Report O Pursuant to Education Code Section 42130, the school district superintendent shall submit two interim reports to the governing board of the district covering the district s financial and budgetary status for the period ending October 31st and January 31st. The governing board shall, no later than 45 days after the close of each reporting period, review the remainder of the fiscal year and two subsequent years. The interim report was reviewed by the budget committee at the March 7, 2016 meeting. Staff recommends approval. D. English Learner Redesignation Criteria P The Board will take action on the revised Redesignation Criteria for English Learners. This item was reviewed and discussed at the February Board meeting. Staff recommends approval. E. Educator Effectiveness Block Grant Q The Board will take action on the plan for use of the Educator Effectiveness Block Grant. F. District Instructional Calendar 2016-17 R The Board will take action on the selection of the 2016-17 Woodlake Unified School District s Instructional Calendar. This item was reviewed and discussed at the February Board meeting. G. 2015-2016 Budget Revisions S Budget revisions are attached for your review. They were reviewed by the Budget Committee on Monday, March 7, 2016. Staff recommends approval. H. Resolution No. U15/16-20 Resolution of Non-Reemployment of Designated Temporary Certificated T Employees Every year, prior to March 15, the Board is asked to release from employment at the end of the school year all temporary teachers per Education Code Section 44954 and any other applicable provision of the law. Teachers are designated temporary because they replace a teacher on leave or on special assignment, were hired under categorical funding, or retirees with earnings limitations. The attached resolution releases designated temporary certificated employees per Education Code Sections, 44954. Staff recommends approval. Action to be determined I. Resolution Number U15/16-21: Tax and Revenue Anticipation Notes (TRANS) U By passing the resolution before the Board, the District will have the opportunity to participate in the California School Cash Reserve Program sponsored by California School Board Association Finance Corporation. TRANs are short-term debt instruments issued by school districts throughout the state to create an additional reserve to the general fund. This reserve will act as a cushion to the general fund in the event that we experience temporary cash flow needs. Staff recommends approval. VI. INFORMATION ITEMS A. VII. REPORTS A.
