We hope you re looking forward to your upcoming The Stans of Central Asia: Turkmenistan & Uzbekistan adventure. As we mentioned in your Travel Handbook, U.S. citizens will need visas for Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Travelers on the extension to Tajikistan will also need visas for Tajikistan and Turkey. In addition, any traveler booking their own flights with a connection in Turkey may need a Turkish visa (ask your airline). To help you apply for your visas, we ve enclosed a Visa Packet with this letter. Please take the time to review this information carefully as it contains detailed instructions and the answers to many commonly asked questions. Perhaps the most frequently asked question of all is Will I need to get my visas in advance? For quick reference, we have included a brief list by country below: Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan: You must get these visas in advance; you cannot get them on arrival. Turkmenistan has a registration step that must be completed and processed on their end before you can apply for your visa. (So if you haven t already sent in your registration form, please do so immediately.) It is important that you apply for your Turkmen visa with PVS in order to ensure that all requirements are met. Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan: No visa is needed for these countries, which are visited on the pre-trip extension only. Tajikistan and Turkey: Both of these visas are electronic visas, or e-visas. You must get them in advance; you cannot get them on arrival. For Turkey, we recommend getting your visa online through the Turkish government s website. For your convenience, we highly recommend the services of PVS International, a national visa and passport service located in Arlington, Virginia. We have selected PVS International for their reliability, efficiency, and personalized service. If you have any questions, please contact PVS International directly at 1-800-556-9990, or call our Traveler Support department at 1-800-221-0814. Thank you for choosing Overseas Adventure Travel. With best wishes for a wonderful adventure, Katrina Reynolds Director, Pre-Departure Communication & Operations Overseas Adventure Travel SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 1

PVS Checklist and Address Form Visas are Subject to Change (But we bet you knew that.) The governments of the countries that you will be visiting reserve the right to revise visa requirements without prior notice. In the event that any country does revise its requirements for U.S. citizens prior to your departure date from the U.S., PVS International and Overseas Adventure Travel will endeavor to advise you and issue necessary instructions. Overseas Adventure Travel and PVS International cannot be held responsible for additional visa fees, handling costs, or postage that may be incurred due to such changes. In addition, PVS International and Overseas Adventure Travel are not responsible for delays, damages, or loss of documents resulting from the actions of any embassy, consulate, or mail service. 1. Contact Information & FAQ PVS International Address: 1700 N. Moore Street, Suite 1503, Arlington, VA 22209 Phone: 800-556-9990 or (703) 908-0330 Fax: (703) 908-0332 Website: www.pvsinternational.org Hours: Monday Friday, 9am to 5pm (Eastern Time) Why does OAT recommend I get my visa with a private company? For better service and to avoid extra steps in the process. You always have the option of working directly with an embassy or consulate, but keep in mind that these are government agencies that report to another country. You might receive prompt, efficient help at an embassy, or it might be just the opposite it is far more variable than the level of service a private company can provide. Private companies can also secure advantages that the embassy or consulate would not extend to individuals, like waiving certain requirements. If you choose to work directly with an embassy or consulate, they may request additional paperwork beyond what is in this packet, ask for documents you will have to obtain on your own, or require that you apply in person. They may even use completely different application forms. Check with them first. If you choose to secure your visa(s) directly from a consular office or embassy, please be advised that Overseas Adventure Travel cannot intervene, influence, or act as your intermediary with a consular office or embassy. Why does OAT recommend PVS International? PVS International is an independently owned and operated company that was founded in 1976. We have selected them for their reliability, efficiency, and personalized service. We believe that by consistently working with the same visa servicing company, we ensure that your application is being reviewed and processed by a staff familiar with your trip. When can I expect my visa? For this adventure, Turkmenistan is the big variable that visa alone can take up to 4 weeks. Once you factor in the other countries, it may be a total of 6 or 7 weeks. If you have reserved your trip inside 90 days from departure, you should start the visa process immediately. What if I need my passport back early? If you will need your passport before your departure on this tour, have independent travel plans, or will be taking multiple trips within a three to four month period, we strongly suggest that you call PVS BEFORE applying for any visas. They can advise you on what s best for your specific plans. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 3

2. Your Passport Is Your Passport in Order? In order to enter a foreign country (and to apply for a visa), your passport will need to meet certain requirements. Please locate your passport and check the following: Your name: Check that your first name and last name on your OAT documents matches your passport. When filling out visa applications use your full name as it appears on your passport. For middle names: OAT doesn t need your middle name even if it appears on your passport; visa applications do need it if it appears on your passport. In other words, if your middle name is on your passport, you don t need to call OAT but you do need to add it when you fill out your visa applications. The expiration date: Your passport should be valid for a minimum of 6 months after your scheduled return, unless you are taking the post-trip extension to Tajikistan, in which case it should be valid for 8 months. Your signature: If you haven t signed your passport yet, please do so now. The number of blank pages: Refer to your Travel Handbook for the total number of pages you ll need. These pages must be labeled Visas at the top (blank Amendments and Endorsements pages won t be accepted). Is it in good condition? Many countries will not let you enter if your passport is damaged. IMPORTANT REMINDER: If your passport needs to be renewed or changed, then you must complete that step AND contact O.A.T. with your new passport number before you send in your Turkmen Registration Form. Travelers without U.S. Passports These instructions are for U.S. citizens only. If your passport is not from the U.S., you may be subject to different entry regulations. You must contact PVS International or the embassies directly for entry requirements, additional instructions, necessary documentation, and information on fees. Need Help with Your Passport? PVS International can help you get a new passport before you apply for your visas. We suggest giving them a call and speaking to one of their representatives for details and pricing. You may also contact the National Passport Information Center (NPIC) at 1-877-487-2778, or visit their website at www.travel.state.gov for information on getting or renewing a passport. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 4

3. Turkmenistan Special Registration Step Before you can apply for your visa, you ll need to register for approval with the Turkmen government. You should have already received a separate mailing outlining this step and asking you to send in certain materials to us. If you already responded to that previous mailing, then you can skip to the next page and begin applying for your visa. You do not need to fill out the Turkmen Visa Registration Form again. If you have not sent in your registration materials yet for example, if you just recently reserved your adventure then you ll need to complete this step immediately. (We have included a second set of forms in this Visa Packet for this purpose.) We need: REQUIRED One (1) Turkmen Visa Registration Form per traveler, filled out in its entirety. All fields are required. Please print in blue or black ink. Reminder: Any passport renewals must be completed and reported to O.A.T. before you can submit this form. A clear color photocopy of the signed photo page of your passport. This must be in color black and white copies will be rejected by the Turkmen government and must show the full page, with no edges cut off. A recent 2"x2" passport photo with a white background. The Turkmen government is very strict about the quality, lighting, and contrast in this photo, so you should only use a professionally-taken passport photo (available at most drugstores and some post offices). RECOMMENDED Clear, color scans of the materials above emailed to Turkmenvisas@oattravel.com. Please note that this scan is a backup copy only; you should still mail in your paper copies. Files sizes should be 500 KB or higher, but no greater than 1MB. DEADLINE: WITHIN 5 DAYS OF RECEIPT OF THIS VISA PACKET We must receive this information promptly or else your trip may be in jeopardy. Send your materials by expedited mail service so that they arrive within the next 5 days. MAILING Please note that your registration information does NOT go to PVS International. Please use this mailing address instead: Overseas Adventure Travel ATTN: MIR/Turkmen Visa 85 South Washington Street, Suite 210 Seattle WA 98104 The registration and approval process can take up to 4 weeks. PVS CANNOT process your Turkmen visa until this has been completed, so please do not delay in completing this step. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 5

4. Turkmenistan Visa Overview and Fees It is important that you apply for your Turkmen visa with PVS in order to ensure that all requirements are met. In addition, there are other key points to know: This visa can only be obtained in advance; you cannot get it on arrival. There s a required registration step, which you may have completed already. If not, please complete that step now so that it does not delay the processing of your visa. You might not get your passport back until two weeks before your departure. This is normal for Turkmenistan; they just work at a slower pace. And depending on what other countries you are applying for, the entire process could take 6-7 weeks. If you have any questions about the timing for example, if you need your passport back for a different trip or a rush visa please call PVS before you apply. The contact information for the Turkmen embassy in Washington DC is (202) 5881500 or at this website www.usa.tmembassy.gov.tm. Please note: The embassy rarely answers their phone and the website is often down, so it may take several tries to reach someone. Materials Needed Your passport, valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return to the U.S. 2 completed visa applications per person. 2 standard passport sized (2x2 inches) photos per person. The photos should have been taken within the past 6 months, in color, with a plain light or white background, and show a full front view of the face. We recommend that you use professionally-taken photos only (available in drugstores or some post offices). 1 clear color photocopy of your state-issued ID (driver license, state ID card, etc.) 1 clear color photocopy of your passport s bio-data pages (the page with your photo and the facing page) Turkmenistan - Visa Processing Fee The processing fee is $85.00 per person for normal processing of a 6-day single-entry visa. The total for two people applying is $170.00. Please note that applying for your visa inside 60 days from departure could result in additional rush fees; call PVS for details. This amount represents a service charge and consular fees for Turkmenistan and does not include any mailing fees such as the one-time mailing fee of $25 (see Mailing Instructions ). Your Entry Date for Turkmenistan If you are taking the main trip only without a pre-trip extension, then you can use your trip s departure date (the day you leave home for the trip) as your entry date. If you are taking the Kyrgyzstan & Kazakhstan pre-trip extension or have made special arrangements like arriving early, traveling independently, doing two trips in a row then you should be more precise about your entry date. Travelers who are taking the pre-trip extension (and have not otherwise customized their departure date from the U.S.) can do so by adding a week to their date of departure. All other travelers should refer to their exact itinerary. Reminder: You can only enter Turkmenistan one day earlier than your group. And if you are doing this, you must notify PVS in writing when you apply for your visa. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 6

5. Turkmenistan Visa Detailed Instructions The following sample answers will guide you step by step as you fill out the visa application form for Turkmenistan. Both of these are electronic visas ( e-visas ), and you must get them in advance. The embassy in Washington DC can be reached at (202) 223-2666 or at this website www.tajemb.us. What is an E-Visa? An e-visa is a way for countries to issue visas digitally. Tajikistan will process your application like a regular visa, but they will not put a visa sticker or a stamp in your passport. However, you must bring a copy of your e-visa confirmation with you on the trip. Think of this printout as your receipt; it is your proof that you ve paid for your visa. If you don t bring your receipt with you, the local immigration officials will NOT be able to confirm your payment. Materials Needed Your passport, valid for at least 6 months after your scheduled return to the U.S. 1 completed visa application per person. Tajikistan - Visa Processing Fee The processing fee is $100.00 per person for a single-entry visa. The total for two people applying is $200.00. This amount represents a service charge and consular fees for Tajikistan and does not include any mailing fees such as the one-time mailing fee of $25 (see Mailing Instructions ). Your Entry Date for Tajikistan For Tajikistan, you don t need to be overly precise about your entry date, but you should be close. As long as you are taking our standard itinerary (with or without a pre-trip extension), you can use your departure date from the U.S. as your date of entry into Tajikistan. However, you have made special arrangements outside of our normal itinerary for example, if you will flying over early, traveling on your own before or after the trip, or taking two trips back-to-back then you should be precise about your entry date. 10. Turkey Visa Overview and Fees If you are taking the Tajikistan: Khujand & Dushanbe post-trip extension you will need a visa for Turkey as well as Tajikistan. You must get this visa in advance, and we suggest doing so before mailing off your passport for Tajikistan. For Turkey, we recommend that you get an e-visa online through the Turkish government s website. If you are not a U.S. citizen, then this option might not apply to you. Please check with the nearest embassy or consulate, or with PVS, for more information. The Turkish embassy in Washington DC can be reached at (202) 612-6700 or at the website www.turkishembassy.org. Note that any traveler booking their own flights with a connection in Turkey may need this visa, especially if you have to re-check your luggage there. We recommend that you confirm your visa requirements directly with your airline(s) at least two weeks before your departure. How is this E-Visa Different? Like Tajikistan, Turkey issues an electronic visa, commonly known as an e-visa. You will not receive a sticker or stamp in your passport, but you must print a copy of your e-visa confirmation and bring it with you on the trip. What s different about Turkey s e-visa compared to Tajikistan is the ease in which it can be done online, the regularity and consistency in the process, and the fact that no additional documents will be needed. Therefore, we have a slightly different recommendation for Turkey than Tajikistan: That you go online and apply directly with the Turkish government. Turkey Processing Fees The cost of our recommended method applying online directly through the Turkish government s website is $20 per person for a multiple-entry visa; there is also a 70-cent service fee. These amounts are set by the Turkish government and are subject to change at any time without notice. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 18

11. Turkey Visa Instructions for Direct E-Visa Read this before you begin! To apply directly with the Turkish government, your application must be filled out and paid for online. You will need a computer with Internet service, Adobe Reader, and a printer. If you do not have access to a computer with these features, you may apply in advance through PVS International instead by using the paper application at the end of this visa packet. If you chose to apply with PVS, their fees will apply. To fill out your online visa application, you will need to: A: Navigate to the correct website B: Fill out the online application C: Confirm and pay for your e-visa D: Print your e-visa confirmation, and bring it with you on the trip It is not always possible to save an application in progress and come back to it later. To avoid loss of data, you should complete the application in one sitting. Expect it to take roughly half an hour total. A: Navigate to the correct website: If you are comfortable typing in addresses directly into your browser, go to this website: https://www.evisa.gov.tr/en/. If you are more comfortable using a search engine like Google or Yahoo, search for Turkish Embassy Washington D.C.. Once you are on the embassy s website, look for the tab on the left-hand side marked evisa. This will bring you to the official visa website. No matter if you typed the address or went through the embassy s website, you should be on a page that looks like this: Click here to begin the online application. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 19

B: Fill out the online application: The following sample answers will guide you step by step as you fill out the online visa application. Answers are based on OAT s standard itinerary and may not apply to travelers with custom air arrangements or who are also traveling independently. Each screen will show you a set of questions. Answer the questions, and then click the Save and Continue button at the bottom of the screen to move to the next screen. Most of the questions will be self-explanatory and the answers will be easy. To help you, we have included answers or tips for the questions that might be less obvious (see below). Questions may change based on your answers. Because your answers change which questions you are asked, not everyone will be asked every question. Screen #1 Country/Region: Use the drop-down menu to select your country of citizenship (this should match your passport). For most travelers, this will be U.S.A. Travel Document: Use the drop-down menu to select your type of passport: For most travelers, it will be Ordinary Passport. Type in the security code (which may be all numbers or a combination of numbers and letters) into the field above it. Screen #2 This screen calculates the validity of your visa. The goal is to have a visa that is valid for the entire length of your trip. Visas are valid for a total period of 180 days. You can enter and exit Turkey at any time during that 180-day window. However, your physical stay in Turkey cannot exceed 90 days total out of that 180-day window. To adjust your 180-day window, you may enter an estimated arrival date and the system will recalculate accordingly. The system will only let you use a date in the next 90 days. TIP: If your trip is departing within the next 90 days, use your departure date (the day you leave the U.S.). If your departure date is more than 90 days away, we suggest picking any estimated arrival date that results in a visa that is valid for the entire length of your trip. Screen #3 Given/First Name(s): Your first and middle names as they appear on your passport. (If your middle name does not appear on your passport, then it is not needed.) Surname(s): Your last name as it appears on your passport Date of Birth: In this format day.month.year with the periods in between the numbers. Place of Birth: Town and state (or town and country if you were born outside of the U.S.). Mother s Name: Your mother s legal name Father s Name: Your father s legal name Passport Number: Your passport number Passport Issue Date & Passport Expiry Date: In this format day.month.year with the periods in between the numbers. Reminder: Your passport should be valid for 8 months past your return date to the U.S.; this is a change from Turkey s previous policy of 6 months. E-mail Address: Your preferred e-mail address. You ll be receiving an e-mail as part of the application process, so please use an address that you check regularly. Phone Number: Your preferred phone number with area code Address: The mailing address of your legal residence SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 20

Review Screen After filling in your information, you can add a second person to the same receipt by clicking the Add a New Person button. We only recommend doing this if you will be entering and exiting Turkey together. Once all travelers have been added, click the Save and Continue button to go to the review screen. Review your answers to confirm they are correct. You can fix any information by using the Edit button. Once you have confirmed your answers, click the Verify button. This will direct you to a screen that confirms your application was saved and that a confirmation e-mail was sent. C: Confirm and pay for your e-visa: Log into the e-mail account that you gave on your e-visa form. You should see an e-mail from the Turkish government (most likely the sender will be listed as Republic of Turkey Electronic Visa or something similar). NOTE: It may take a few minutes for the e-mail to be sent. Once sent, it may show up in your spam folder instead of your inbox. The e-mail will ask you to confirm your visa request. Follow the instructions in the e-mail; finish by clicking the Approve button. This will re-direct you to the payment screen on the e-visa website. Follow the payment instructions as outlined on the website. D: Print your e-visa confirmation, and bring it with you on the trip: Once your payment is accepted, follow the website s instructions to download and print your e-visa confirmation. TIP: If the website allows, we suggest printing two copies (one to use, one as a backup). To avoid losing the printout, some travelers will fold it and store it in their passport. You must bring a copy of your e-visa confirmation with you on your trip. Think of this printout as your receipt; it is your proof that you ve paid for your visa. If you don t bring your receipt with you, the local immigration officials will NOT be able to confirm your payment, and you will be asked to pay again when you enter Turkey. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 21

12. Mailing Instructions Mailing Instructions: Turkmenistan Registration Only If you have not already sent your registration materials in, please do so now to this address: Overseas Adventure Travel ATTN: MIR/Turkmen Visa 85 South Washington Street, Suite 210 Seattle WA 98104 Mailing Instructions: All Other Materials Once you have completed your visa applications, please mail it to PVS along with your actual passport (the Embassy or Consulate will not accept photocopies) to PVS for processing. For your convenience, a mailing label addressed to PVS International is enclosed. We strongly recommend that you mail your passport and application using a mail service that lets you track the envelope, confirm delivery, and is insured. Your visa(s) will be returned to you from PVS International via Federal Express or Priority Mail Express. Please provide PVS International with the exact name and address to which you would like your visa mailed. Please fill in the form on the next page and mail it along with your application and paperwork to PVS International. You must provide a street address for delivery by FedEx. If you have a P.O. Box, your visa will be sent to you via Priority Mail Express. FedEx generally requires that deliveries be signed for, so if you will be away from home before your departure, work during the day, or will be otherwise absent, consider making alternative arrangements. PVS will work with you to return your passport to a different address (like a relative s house or your office) or to return your passport at a more convenient time, but they will need advance notice as FedEx will not re-route once an item has been sent. One-Time Mailing Fee ($25) After processing your visa(s) PVS International will return your passport and visa(s) via Federal Express or Priority Mail Express. The cost for this service is $25 per return address. The cost remains the same regardless of how many visas you are applying for, or how many people are applying, as long as there is only one address to return your documents to. Payment After you calculate your total visa processing costs, add the $25 one-time mailing fee to the total. Please make your check payable to PVS International. SLK.SLB 17 10/17/17 22
