Most of the biggest builders had increases in local starts last year. A look at the top homebuilders in North Texas shows not much change in ranking over the last year. Fort Worth-based D.R. Horton continued to lead the big builder list, with more than three times the construction of its closest competitor. Horton and its Emerald and Express home divisions started 4,468 D-FW houses last year, Residential Strategies reported. D.R. Horton continues to have such dominance in this market, said Residential Strategies Ted Wilson. They continue to expand their Express Homes construction. A newcomer to the top builder list for 2015 was CalAtlantic Homes, which merged the Standard Pacific and Ryland companies, and Megatel Homes made it into the top 10 for the first time. The Lionsgate builder being swallowed by Ryland being swallowed by... ad infinitum visibly shows changes in quality and prices. Japanese and others buying some of these builders has also resulted in homes that lack individualizations. Big builders build big expensive (for what you get that is hidden) boxes that do not last. No one talks about the construction details that make the difference. The ignorant buyers keep buying what often doesn't last as long as the mortgage. Like Reply
