BOARD OF TRUSTEES COTATI-ROHNERT PARK UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT REGULAR MEETING MINUTES -MAY 16, 2017 President Farrell called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM at the Mountain Shadows Educational Center, 7165 Burton Avenue, Rohnert Park, CA 94928. Trustees in attendance wer~ Tracy Farrell, Tim Nonn, Marc Orloff, Leffler Brown and Jennifer Wiltermood. Call to Order Trustees in Attendance Student Board member Nafe Nafe was present. [ L Marguerite Hahn Elementary Student Taylor Whetstone led the Pledge of Allegiance. Student Board member Noor Ayat arrived at 5:02 PM. Wiltermood, Trustees voted 5-0 to approve the agenda. Recognition of Community Volunteers and 2017 District Retirees. President Farrell recognized Student Board Members, Noor Ayat and Nafe Nafe. Student Member Noor Ayat from Technology High School reported on the following: April 23, seniors participated in our annual cardboard car races April 28, ASB held a fundraiser and the school was able to tape Mrs. Mawhinney to her office door National Honor Society's fundraiser raised over $1,300 Prom committee's hard work has paid off. Our Hollywood themed prom was last Saturday and the dance received high praise from all students Our softball team is 11-4 overall, baseball team is now 8-10 Next week we are having our final spirit week of the year. Monday is Aloha day, Tuesday is Mathlete v. Athlete day, Wednesday is Wacky Wednesday, Thursday is Old v. Young day and Friday is Tech day. ASB elections took place and we have our board for next year. Our President will be Dustin Dang, Vice President, Faith Fredlund, Student Board Member Calvin Jenkins, Secretary Helen Nguyen and Treasurer Matthew Choi. [ Student Member Nafe Nafe from Rancho Cotate High School reported on the following: School is coming to an end and everyone is very excited Our prom this year was a huge success. The theme this year was "Night of a Thousand Lights." Graduation is coming up. Alumni shirts and "Kiss a senior goodbye" grams are on sale. Varsity softball team made the playoff We are very excited for the new TAG building coming our way We are happy with the outcome of all the academic achievements this semester We are thrilled to have received a 6-year accreditation from our W ASC report Our AP and SBAC testing is finally finished Cougar Olympics have started on campus. Cougar Olympics are a series of competitive games at break and lunch to unify our students further On May 26, we are having a color run Spirit point tailgate party on Friday Senior Project Presentations have finished May 31, is Senior awards night As my last report as School Board member, I would like to say thank you to the Board, the community and all others who have helped me this year and taught me very much as a student leader. My successor Samantha McKinley is here tonight to observe; I know she is very excited for next year and everything to come. Board president Farrell called for a recess at 5:35 PM. I am honored to be nominated as an educator of the year by the Rohnert Park Cotati Rotary. Also nominated were Pat Seibel from Lawrence Jones Middle School and Lillian Cook from Rancho Cotate. Wiltermood, Trustees voted 5-0 to approve Memorandum of Understanding with City of Rohnert Park to Distribute Community Investment Funds Associated with the Graton Casino. Wiltermood, Trustees voted 5-0 to accept the Gifts and Donations to Schools and District. There was no public comment on non-agenda items. There was no public comment regarding Closed Session agenda items. The Board adjourned to Closed Session at 7:03 PM, pursuant to Government Code section 54957.
