Hook: In 2006, the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting cost 45 students and teachers to loose their lives because of a gun, lack of security, and lack of background checks. Intro Paragraph Example Background: Since the Sandy Hook shooting, the government has had countless debates over the gun control policies. Moreover, The Democrats in the senate are currently pushing for more important policies to prevent people from easily having access to guns. Claim: Nevertheless, The government should strengthen gun control policies to decrease death and crime rates. Point 1 / Topic Sentence: The government should have stricter gun policies to prevent fatalities. Point 1 / Paragraph 2 Example Evidence: According to the United States crime report, Americans are more likely to die from a gun shot wound then any other cause. Moreover, the CNN news reports suggest that 5 out of 10 teenagers will loose their lives to gun violence before the age of 18. Explain: This evidence displays, that Americans are more likely to die from a gun shot wound than any other cause of death.
