New and Reactivated Chapters were announced: Pi Delta Shepherd University (WV) (2017) new chapter Nu Gamma East Central University (OK) new chapter Tau Zeta Fairfield University (CT) new chapter Alpha Gamma Wake Forest College (2015) reactivated Alpha Eta University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (NC) (2017) reactivated Lambda Alpha Mississippi University for Women (2015) reactivated Zeta Alpha Georgetown University (2017) reactivated Special Project Grants Rho Nu (St. Francis University) $500 Science Outreach to Underprivileged Children in Altoona, PA Sigma Theta (Drew University) $500 Fair for Energy Researchers at Drew University Delta Beta (University of Alabama) ($500 prior to 2015 biennial convention) Rho Nu (St. Francis University) $500 Host Women in Chemistry Day for SFU and local HS students (presented at this biennial convention) The Ray Newsletter (Dr. Greg Boyce) was revived and Dr. Boyce has volunteered as editor. Motion (Beta Eta, Iota Beta second) Approve the President s Report. Vote: Unanimous approval. Initiation fee will remain at $40. New Business (Dr. Mark Stauffer, President) Dr. Mark Stauffer announced proposed new sections and language alterations of the constitution. Article 3, Section 5 (oversighted duplication no change needed) Article 3, Section 7 Motion: Vote to approve (Epsilon Delta, second Tau Alpha) approved. Section 7 In event of resignation, death or removal of the President from office, the President-Elect shall assume the office of President. Other vacancies of executive officers shall be filled by appointment by the remaining executive officers from voluntary nomination(s) of chapter advisors. Article 3, Section 8 Motion: Vote to approve (Kappa Omicron, second Pi Gamma) Motion: (Frank Switzer, second Delta Beta) Proposed to change to the vote to require at least 2/3 vote of the remaining members to eliminate a member of the executive committee. (approved) Motion: (Peggy Biser, second Rho Alpha) To strike to the wording in the new language regarding consideration by the active Membership. Friendly amendment: Proposed language: If an Executive Officer is found by the remaining Executive Officers and/or by the active Membership to be delinquent in fulfilling the duties of his/her office, or guilty of malfeasance of office, the Executive Officer in question can be removed by at least a 2/3 (two-thirds) majority vote of the remaining Executive Officers. This action may be initiated by any of the remaining Executive Officers, in consultation with the others. (accepted by Dr. Biser) Motion: (Kappa Delta, Iota Beta second) Accept the substantially-changed language to section 8 of article 3. Discussion: What methods would the executive officer in question have? It was proposed that the (volunteer) officer would have the opportunity to resign. Motion: (Alpha Delta, Delta Beta) Article 4, section 1 (will be changed to include the immediate past president as a part of the executive officers). (approved) Friendly amendment: All changes may be made to add the immediate past president to any other missing locations in the constitution. Motion: Article 5, Section 5 (Frank Switzer, second Delta Beta) New language in red will be combined with the last sentence in the old language (approved) New Language: If a chapter fails to initiate members for ONE biennial period OR fails to send a representative to TWO consecutive biennial conventions, that chapter will be placed on probation. A chapter will be deactivated if it fails to initiate members for TWO biennial periods OR fails to send a representative to THREE consecutive biennial conventions. The Executive Officers are authorized to notify chapters which have been placed on probation or deactivated. Article 5, Section 6 Motion: (Gamma Beta, second Iota Beta) Alter the language (approved)

New Language: All chapters are required to send a delegate to the biennial convention unless a pre-submitted excuse is accepted by the Executive Officers or unless their travel distance to the conference exceeds 3000 miles. These chapters not in attendance are encouraged to participate virtually. Motion: Article 7, Section 6 (Gamma Beta, second Beta Eta) (approved) The Guardian of Entropy (Sergeant-at-Arms). Motion: Vote to change Article 13, Section 1 (Kappa Delta, second Rho Theta) (approved) Friendly amendment to language: shall pay an initiation fee set by the biennial convention (accepted) Bylaws Changes Motion: Article 2, Section 2; Article 2, Section 2; Article 2, Section 3; Article 2, Section 4; Article 2, Section 5 (Delta Beta, second Alpha Delta) All changes to award amounts and details were approved Motion: (George Fisher, second Iota Beta) Change all language in the constitution will alter conference to say convention. (approved) Motion: (George Fisher, second Beta Eta) Create a medallion to fix to a plaque for chapter awards. (approved) Discussion- The cost would be $150 to cast the die. 2019 Convention: 100 th Anniversary is planned for Davidson College. Prof. Nicole Snyder (advisor) has volunteered to host the convention. Dr. Fisher has proposed to hold a planning committee of past presidents to advise Dr. Snyder in the planning. Vote: unanimous approval Motion: (Alpha Epsilon, second Pi Gamma) The chapters listed above will officially be deactivation.
