Education/ Training/ Research Education The UNESCO Chair offered 9 courses on Culture of Peace, non-violent communication and peaceful conflict resolution in the following topics: General Philosophy of Peace European Models of Philosophy: from Antiquity to Nowadays European Models of Tolerance: from Antiquity to Nowadays Ukrainian Experience of Establishment of Ideas of Peace and Tolerance European Models of Communication (X-XX cc.) Rhetoric of War and Peace Culture of Peace and New Models and Mechanisms of Conflict Resolution and Prevention Contemporary Leadership Technologies Principles of Mediation and Prejudicial Conflict Settlement Target groups: undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate students; Academics, public administrators and teachers. Joint research and expert projects, as well as exchanges in specialists, technologies, and methodological materials are performed over the network. The all-ukrainian Inter-University Network of UNESCO Chairs and their Partners "Philosophy and Culture of Peace via Communication", as of May 2009, consists of the following institutions: UNESCO Chair on Human Rights, Peace, Democracy, Tolerance and International Understanding at the UKMA; UNESCO Chair "Philosophy of Human Communication" (Kharkiv, Ukraine); Chair of Logic at the National Academy of Law of Ukraine named after Yaroslav Mudriy; Chair of Philosophy and Political Science at the Educational and Research Institute of Law, Economics and Social Science at Kharkiv University of the Interior; Chair of Theoretical and Practical Philosophy at the Faculty of Philosophy of Kharkiv National University named after V.N. Karazin; Ukrainian Conflict Resolution Association; Chair of Philosophy and Religion Studies at the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy. 5
II. Outcomes Development of the Inter-University Network of UNESCO Chairs and their Partners "Philosophy and Culture of Peace via Communication" to embrace 7 institutions, creating a common space for professional communication of experts on problems of philosophical and legal education in Ukraine. Official ratification of the Principles of Regional Policy and Action Plan Framework for the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy for 2009 2017. III. Forthcoming Activities The UNESCO Chair is working, within the structure of the Inter-university Network of UNESCO Chairs and their Partners Philosophy and Culture of Peace via Communication, towards the creation of the laboratory for logical analysis of Legislation. The UNESCO Chair is also working towards the implementation of the pilot project «Setting up the virtual "Information and Documentation Centre for UNESCO in Ukraine». The UNESCO Chair is seeking to reinforce equitable, mutually beneficial and well-balanced cooperation with UNESCO Secretariat, National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO, public establishments, national and international financial institutions, to attract and mobilize more resources to fund its activities. IV. Development Prospects Plans to strengthen the UKMA UNESCO Chair s presence in Ukrainian regions are being developed. The transformation of the UKMA UNESCO Chair into an Inter- University inter- disciplinary research center is being considered. The transformation of the UKMA UNESCO Chair into a National Think Factory is ongoing. 6
