Mr. Rogers: George Rogers, MLA, Leduc-Beaumont-Devon. Dr. McNeil: David McNeil, Clerk of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. [Ms Blakeman joined the meeting via teleconference] The Chair: Good afternoon, Laurie. We re just going around doing introductions, and I wanted you to probably finish your traditional... Ms Blakeman: Yes, because I am indeed calling from the fabulous constituency of Edmonton-Centre, and I d like to welcome each and every one of you to that fabulous constituency. The Chair: Thank you, Ms Blakeman. Mr. Quest: It s great to be here. Dave Quest, MLA, Strathcona. Mr. Hinman: Paul Hinman, MLA, Calgary-Glenmore. Ms Notley: Rachel Notley, MLA, Edmonton-Strathcona. Ms Easton: Jean Easton, executive search. Ms Mills: Trish Mills, executive search. Mrs. Sawchuk: Karen Sawchuk, committee clerk. The Chair: Thank you very much. We have before us an agenda. Would someone be prepared to move the approval of the agenda? Moved by Mr. Rogers that the Select Special Information and Privacy Commissioner Search Committee approve the agenda for the November 16, 2011, meeting as distributed. Are there any additions to the agenda? Seeing none, all in favour? That s carried. As well, approval of the minutes of two meetings, October 13 and October 19. We need a separate motion for each of these. Moved by Mr. Quest that we approve the October 13 meeting. Any errors or omissions? Seeing none, all in favour? Opposed? That is carried. Would someone be prepared to approve the October 19 meeting? Moved by Mr. Marz that the October 19 minutes be approved as circulated. Any errors or omissions? All in favour? That is carried. This takes us to the review of the pre-employment checks. We ll be continuing our discussions in camera to maintain the confidentiality of the applicants. Is someone prepared to make a motion that the committee move in camera at this point? Moved by Mr. Lund. All in favour. Opposed? That is carried. [The committee met in camera from 3:15 p.m. to 4:10 p.m.] The Chair: Okay. We re back on the record. Do members have any other items for discussion? Seeing none, on behalf of the search committee and for the record I d like to take this opportunity to recognize and thank Trish Mills and Jean Easton from executive search. They have assisted this committee in their usual efficient and professional way and have accommodated our various meeting schedules and have done a remarkable job. Thank you, ladies. The last item is the date of the next meeting. The final meeting of the committee is currently scheduled for Monday, November 28, from 8:30 a.m. until 9 a.m. I m asking everyone if they re all available. We may have to try and change this date. Given the note that was sent out earlier, there is an urgency to this. Can people confirm their attendance for this, and can we move ahead? I know, Ms Notley, that you have a considerable concern with this. Is there an alternate date that we could use given the time constraints that we have? Does 9 o clock work? Ms Notley: As I said, my other commitment was at 8:30, so 9 o clock would work. I could still phone in then. The Chair: Can we change from 9 until 9:30? Does that work for everyone else? Ms Blakeman: That s much better for me, and I can phone in as well. That s perfect. The Chair: It is at 9 o clock, then, on the 28th, from 9 until 9:30. Ms Blakeman: Good. Thank you. The Chair: Thank you very much on this. I m glad we got it. Is someone willing to make a motion to adjourn? Moved by Mr. Hinman. That motion is carried. Thank you very much for this. It s been a long day. [The committee adjourned at 4:12 p.m.]
