Equipment and Safety
First day in Canada GETTING READY TO WORK Rules, health and safety in the house and at work explained in Spanish. Proper training and Tools Administrative issues: SIN, Work Permit, Bank account, International driver license, others.
INVESTING IN PRODUCTIVITY & SAFETY Some activities require certain skills, international driver license, equipment and proper tools to work. Some of them represent a cost to get them, a visionary employer will see this like a smart investment.
IN CASE OF ACCIDENT OR ILLNESS Farmer Responsibilities Bring the worker to the hospital and to the subsequent appointments and assist him with translation if needed Inform the Consulate Buy and paid the medication Claim the worker for reimbursements Workers Responsibilities Follow the safety rules to avoid accidents Follow the medical instructions
Housing Conditions
HOUSING Access to a telephone in case of emergency Good living conditions Enough rooms and services according to number of workers
Transfers
1 2 3 TRANSFERS An option to get workers for a short period of time.. Notify the Consulate to verify the availability (farms and workers) Get approval from Service Canada. Fill out a transfer form and submit the application. Make arrangements with the other farm for transportation & transfer date. This process can take up to 2 weeks.

Communication with the Consulate
COMMUNICATION & MAKING DECISIONS. Circumstances like: *Behavior problems, Fights *Premature Repatriation *Illness Require to take actions or decisions. For all those cases you should contact the CONSULATE and we will evaluate them and make a decision.
GREAT WEST LIFE INSURANCE (COWAN) The insurance company only receives notification from the Consulate. The farmer should notify us by email or fax in order to complete the process. *Arrivals *Double arrivals *Returns *Transfers *Premature repatriation
DOUBLE ARRIVALS / RETURNS TO MEXICO Notify to the consulate in the follow circumstances: Worker s family emergencies Slow down work during the season Any other concern about the workers Double arrival for harvesting (Provide return date and flight information to the worker before going home)
Additional Information
STAY By bilateral agreement the maximum length of stay of a worker in Canada is 8 (eight) months within a seasonal year. Be sure that the worker's last day in this country is December 15th. No extensions are allowed unless there is a medical reason. 8 months December 15th No extensions
GOING BACK HOME As soon as the contract ends, the worker must return to Mexico. It is not allowed for the worker to prolong his/her stay for any reason.
CONSULAR VISITS The Consulate conducts regular visits to strength the communication among all parties involved in the SAWP. During such visits, Consular Officers will verify the housing, living work and working conditions. At the same time, Consular visits are an opportunity for the workers and employers to exchange information with us and concerns in a direct way.
